Day - 08 Hour (United States of America)

The cook is primarily responsible for the production of composed hot entrees as part of a cycle menu.  These activities are related to the provision of meals for patients, employees and guests.  Performs basic food preparation.

Essential functions

  • Performs basic food preparation. 
  • Follows standard recipes and acts as the short order cook.
  • Assists in ordering, storage and preparation of foods
  • Assembles trays for general and special diets
  • Adheres to portion control standards at all time
  • Adheres to prescribed safety and sanitation practices and HAACP procedures
  • Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital. C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford Healthcare – ValleyCare’s patient-experience and represents a framework for patient-centered interactions

Job Qualifications

Education   

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred.

Experience

  • 2 years of cook or related work experience preferred.
  • Food Service Certificate within 90-days of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Perform basic mathematics.
  • Know the basic principles of quantity food production and Infection Control practices; operates cooking equipment efficiently and carefully.
  • Knowledge and understanding of general cleaning materials
  • Able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
  • Able to stand on feet for long period of time
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skill
  • Knowledge of regulatory agencies for sanitation, food preparation and customer satisfaction
  • Must have rapid eyes-hands coordination motor skills

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $25.76 - $34.00 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
