As a Cook, you will cook and prepare a variety of food for patients, caregivers, special events and visitors. This team thrives on teamwork and is very passionate about providing patients with quality meals. This role is a great hands-on opportunity where you can grow your skillset and possibly even move in to other roles within the organization. 

 

A caregiver in this position works days from 10:00AM – 6:30PM or 10:30AM – 7:00PM. Working an occasional shift of 5:00AM – 1:30PM will be required, as needed. 

 
A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Review menus and special orders to determine types and quantities of food items to be obtained and prepared.  

  • Follow standardized recipes in preparation of all foods.  

  • Plan cooking schedules with a supervisor and/or dietitian.  

  • Ensure that all foods are prepared to meet existing standards for quality, freshness, taste and appearance.  

  • Confer with dietitians regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers.  

  • Adhere to HACCP guidelines in food storage, food handling, food preparation, sanitation and maintenance of work area.  

  • Ensure that all cooking equipment and utensils are inspected and maintained for cleanliness and proper orientation.  

  • Detect and report spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies and equipment and other unusual conditions.  

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Sufficient previous experience in large scale food preparation 

  • Knowledge of cooking methods and procedures, including types of preparation and related routines  

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High School Diploma or GED 

  • Two years of related experience  

  • Training in institutional food preparation

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to manipulate objects for tools, reach with hands and arms, stoop and lift or move objects up to 75 pounds.

  • Position requires normal or corrected vision.
