The Role

The Control Room Lead plays a pivotal role in coordinating all control room operations during a shift, ensuring safety, productivity, and efficiency standards are met. This position requires strong leadership and problem-solving skills to manage real-time operational challenges and maintain seamless flow across quay, yard, and gate activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational direction for the Flow Control Room, ensuring adherence to safety and efficiency standards.
  • Supervise control room staff in preparing vessel load and work plans, supporting planning managers and coordinators.
  • Monitor and coordinate container discharge and load operations for maximum efficiency.
  • Ensure smooth communication between control room and execution teams, maintaining strict compliance with communication protocols.
  • Anticipate operational stages to prevent flow disruptions and intervene when necessary.
  • Lead deviation management, investigations, and intervention activities.
  • Promote discipline, fairness, and transparency within the control room team.
  • Embed LEAN principles and TWI practices into daily operations, driving continuous improvement.
  • Assess skills matrix for control room roles and coordinate training plans.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, including shipping lines and agents.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in terminal or logistics operations, with a solid understanding of flow planning and execution.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to guide and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to address operational challenges effectively.
  • Familiarity with operational tools, scorecards, and planning systems is an advantage.
