Job Description

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Contract Specialist III. This is a unique opportunity to make an impact on a global scale and contribute to our mission of enabling our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. As a Contract Specialist III, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Biosciences Division (BID) within Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a legal point of contact for BID, providing support and expertise necessary to enable business growth.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including supply and license agreements.
  • Understand and frame legal and business issues in preparation and review of commercial agreements.
  • Engage with other relevant functions, such as regulatory, intellectual property, licensing, business development, procurement, finance, commercial, and product management, and facilitate appropriate leadership approval.
  • Analyze legal rights, obligations, and strategies to help the Company achieve its goals and objectives, including advising business on potential risks and mitigants.
  • Support practice management activities, including development of new and updates to existing contractual templates, and routinely work with the business on process improvements to ensure efficient support.
  • Train internal clients on risk management and how to best engage with the Legal team.
  • Promote a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
  • Collaborate with peers to ensure alignment with business strategy.
  • Interact with all levels of company personnel and external customers.
  • Seek advice from senior legal leaders when necessary.

Requirements:

  • A licensed attorney or paralegal with at least 3 years of experience with commercial contracts, including contract drafting and negotiations.
  • Prior in-house and/or life sciences experience preferred.
  • Experience working in life sciences preferred.
  • Solution-oriented mindset with commercial experience and solid understanding of standard business processes.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate strong relationships, internally and externally, as applicable.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage constantly evolving priorities.
  • Highly attentive individual with a customer-centric approach, sound judgment, work ethic, and professional integrity and attention for detail.
  • Understanding of when to see advice from or raise matters with Legal Department leadership, business leaders or other partners.
