Are you passionate about supporting corporate communications for one of Canada’s most iconic brands? Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, the Communications Specialist will provide communications support in the management, development and implementation of the LCBO’s communications strategies and plans, both internally and externally.  

This role primarily focuses on supporting HR, IT, Finance, and Legal divisions. In this role, you will help drive understanding of our business, build awareness of new and continuing programs, and support successful program launches while building our culture and positively impacting the employee experience.

About the Role 

  • Implement and measure effective communications programs that help internal and external stakeholders better understand the LCBO’s programs, mandate, policies and activities. 
  • Serve as a trusted communications advisor and partner to business units as needed to further the LCBO’s communications objectives and business goals.  
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across the communications team and with key internal stakeholders to ensure proper deployment of communications messages, providing guidance, assistance and informed opinions related to LCBO initiatives. 
  • Draft and execute internal and external communications plans and accompanying materials (plans, intranet and web content, video scripts, briefs, social media content, issues management) in support of the divisional and organizational goals  
  • Support ongoing employee engagement to deliver on LCBO’s People Strategy 
  • Work closely with relevant business units to develop a coordinated approach to all reactive and proactive communications initiatives. 

About You 

  • Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in Communications, Arts Administration, Public Relations or equivalent. 
  • 3+ years of communications experience. 
  • Experience in retail or the broader public sector and/or beverage alcohol sector is an asset. 
  • Proficient in MS Tools (e.g., Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.). Experience with Sharepoint intranets and Adobe Express an asset. 
  • Proven track record in employee engagement initiatives and ability to craft compelling stories that deliver on corporate priorities. 
  • Able to distill complex ideas and programs into easy to understand and engaging communications. 
  • Able to work collaboratively across all departments on identified priorities, providing strategic guidance to senior management and operational staff.  
  • Proven ability to deliver a variety of high-quality communications products (both print and digital) adhering to strict deadlines and short turnaround times. 
  • Digital & social media savvy and a strong grasp on the evolving digital media landscape, and the ability to craft and communicate a compelling story across mediums.  
  • Experience in brand management to ensure development and consistent application of the LCBO brands.
