The Role
The Communications Associate supports the delivery of integrated communications activity across internal and external audiences. Working flexibly across campaigns and projects, this role provides hands-on support in content development, channel coordination, and project delivery.
Principal Accountabilities:
Support the planning and execution of communications campaigns, ensuring strategic alignment across internal and external audiences and consistency of messaging.
Develop high-quality content for a variety of formats and channels (e.g. Lloyds.com, email, social media, MyLloyd’s, executive briefings), ensuring alignment across internal and external channels, and tailored to audience needs and business objectives.
Assist in the day-to-day management of the press office, including media monitoring, briefing preparation and reactive communications.
Co-ordinate content scheduling and publishing across key channels (e.g. Lloyds.com, MyLloyd’s, social media, email via Vuture), ensuring timely delivery and quality control.
Support the day-to-day management of communications projects, including stakeholder engagement, project planning, and tracking of deliverables.
Analyse communications performance, using data and feedback to generate insights and recommendations that inform future activity and reporting.
Collaborate across the communications team, contributing expertise to cross-functional initiatives and supporting specialist areas such as media relations, internal communications, brand, digital and social media).
Skills
Demonstrable communication and written skills including drafting, editing and proof reading, with the ability to communicate complexity in a way that makes it accessible.
Creative thinking, contributing ideas and working with the team to deliver compelling communications.
Proactive and resourceful with problem-solving skills and the confidence to propose new ideas and solutions.
Ability to support press office functions including media monitoring and briefing preparation.
Ability to assist in reactive communications and issue management.
Digital fluency, with experience using content management systems (CMS), email marketing platforms (e.g. Vuture), and social media.
Excellent grammar and spelling, ensuring accuracy and professionalism in all written content.
Team working skills – skilled and confident at collaborating, contributing, supporting and influencing when working with others.
Highly organised with excellent time management and the ability to manage to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing demands and meet deadlines.
Skilled at stakeholder engagement, building trust and relationships through clear communication and reliable delivery.
Knowledge
Understanding of how communications can strengthen and protect Lloyd’s leadership and reputation.
Understanding of which audiences Lloyd’s needs to reach and engage to strengthen its leadership position.
Understanding of how media operates, including key outlets and journalist engagement.
Good grasp of the breadth of channels and content to reach our multiple audiences.
Awareness of how users interact with digital platforms and how to optimise content accordingly.
Knowledge of how to align external messaging with internal communications and corporate strategy.
Deep understanding of digital tools and platforms, such as content management systems (CMS), email marketing platforms, social media and analytics platforms.
Experience
Experience communicating, writing, editing, message development and adapting writing style according to audience.
Experience of multi-tasking with the ability to prioritise and organise workload in order to meet tight deadlines.
Experience creating and managing content across multiple formats and channels – email, intranet, social media, websites, briefing materials.
Experience in media monitoring, drafting press releases, or preparing briefing materials.
Hands on experience with digital tools and platforms, such as content management systems (CMS), email marketing platforms, social media and analytics platforms.
Experience in supporting individuals or teams in a team environment.
Experience in positively managing internal and external stakeholder relationships.
Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary communications team.
Understanding of brand and tone of voice, with the ability to apply it consistently across channels.
