Job Summary:

The Commodity Supplier Assurance Engineer is the primary quality interface between Raytheon’s organization and the external supply base.  The CSAE is responsible for ensuring suppliers meet requirements, resolve quality issues, provide performance feedback, and implement continuous improvement ideas. This role requires excellent communication skills, meeting facilitation, and the ability to create and sustain healthy supplier relationships. The CSAE is a key player as the liaison between the supply base and Raytheon’s internal functional groups for activities such as supplier source selection, business level management, risk mitigation, strategic planning, and development of key suppliers.  The CSAE represents Raytheon professionally and supports Raytheon’s Vision, Values, Strategy and Goals in the supply base.

Location Information:

This position is a remote assignment as a Commodity Supplier Assurance Engineer.  This assignment requires an estimated minimum travel of 25% to suppliers reporting to the Commodity Supplier Assurance Manager.

  • Remote: This position currently is designated as remote. Employees who are working in remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home) but may be expected to travel to the site location as needed. The successful candidate for this role will be required to reside and work from one of the 50 U.S. states (excluding U.S. territories).

What you will do:

  • Developing process improvement strategies and risk mitigation activities to be utilized across supply base
  • Closely interface with external/internal customers and key partners to establishing effective relationships
  • Must have the ability to manage and impact multiple stakeholder levels
  • Leveraging quality assurance to influence business decision-makers, ensuring efforts are focused on the customer’s priorities and mission success requirements
  • Interpreting purchase order quality notes and quality requirements to ensure subcontractor/supplier understanding
  • Ensuring flow down of Product requirements both internally and to sub-tier suppliers and ensuring compliance with quality requirements
  • Assessing subcontractor/supplier quality capabilities throughout the program life cycle to achieve full program objectives
  • Identifying supplier risk and systemic performance issues ensuring root-cause analysis and corrective solutions are identified and implemented with closure plans
  • Driving continuous product / process improvements using statistical / analytical improvement tools such as Six Sigma and lean methodologies
  • Working with other Quality functions and Cross Business Teams (CBTs), to affect rapid closure of issues utilizing analytical capabilities and communications skills
  • Supports the First Article Verification and Source Inspection
  • Supporting supplier assessments, audits, and reviews

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent and 5 years relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience working with suppliers as it relates to Root Cause Corrective Action methods such as 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.
  • Experience in collecting, analyzing, and presenting data for decision making
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Six Sigma, Lean and / or American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification (CQE, CQM/OE, CSQE, CQA, CRE, etc.)
  • Experience in DoD product and process oversight including requirements, build, integration, test and delivery
  • Strong technical engineer with excellent communication skills that exhibits presence and influence and self-managed technical contributor
  • Experience working within commercial and aerospace / defense regulations and standards - AS9100, AS9102, ISO-9000, AS9145
  • Experience with industry technical standards (such as ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, etc.)
  • Experience in collaborating with engineering, manufacturing operations, and supply chain

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
