Role Purpose
The purpose of the Commercial Manager is to be a part of the Commercial team within dentsu Media which drives profitable growth, mitigates risk and maximises growth across both dentsu Media’s new and existing client business, with a primary focus on Global Media Clients and pitches.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
The primary focus of this role will be supporting the Commercial Lead on an existing Global Client where your role will be to:
Partner with the Commercial Lead to design and execute the commercial and growth strategy for the account.
Collaborate with the Client Leadership team to manage the scope of work and build any out-of-scope costings.
Coordinate with client and commercial leads across global and local market teams to prepare and analyse fee calculations before submission to the client.
Manage the annual Performance Related Fee calculation process
Ensure all contractual reporting requirements are delivered accurately and on time.
Prepare ad hoc analyses and reports for the Commercial Lead and/or Client Teams.
Liaise directly with client procurement teams, occasionally acting as the primary point of contact.
Manage the client P&L and facilitate conversations with client leads on client profitability (the objective of the conversations being to identify opportunities to improve profitability)
Monitor and review aged debt reports.
Oversee Analyst contributions on select projects.
Additional responsibilities include:
New business pitches:
Close collaboration with the Commercial Lead on an account to design and implement the commercial strategy for the pitch
After the commercial strategy for the pitch has been developed the Manager will lead the interaction with local market teams in order to prepare the detail to support our fee proposal. This will include drafting a detailed briefing to markets, responding to market questions, analysis of market submissions, consolidation of submissions to produce fee/profitability summary for internal approval and then submission to client (with identification and resolution of issues, with Director support, along the way)
During a pitch process the Manage will be expected to question market submissions, pushing back and making suggestions where relevant in order to achieve the underlying objective that our fee proposal is profitable yet competitive
Together with the Commercial Lead, be at the centre of all commercial considerations on a pitch
Draft clear concise commercial summary (including fee proposal) for internal approval
Be a key point of contact on finance and commercial matters. This will often mean working to tight deadlines
On most pitches manage the Analyst input
Other
Driving process improvement for both new businesses pitches and existing clients
Working on internal projects within the dentsu Media Commercial team
Person Specification
Qualifications and experience
Minimum of 6 years professional experience including experience within a role demonstrating commercial awareness and analysis skills
Strong academics demonstrating exceptional financial and numerical literacy
Media experience is desirable
Fully qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA
Skills and attributes
Commercial awareness and desire to develop further in this area, coupled with an interest in the media industry.
Strong analytical skills (supported by excellent excel skills and ability to assimilate large volumes of data) supported by rigorous and meticulous approach
Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
Superbly organised, able to plan and co-ordinate multiple projects simultaneously and meet all deadlines.
Dynamic and highly motivated individual able to work with colleagues and clients of all levels and markets.
