We are actively hiring for a Commercial Claims Policy & Standards Analyst!

Your Role:

Works on regulatory and legislative issues that require analysis and evaluation of the impact on Commercial claims and determination on how to respond and implement most effectively. Research to actively stay ahead of regulatory activity. Takes an active role in developing, modifying, and executing Commercial policies that reflect claims best practices, affect operations, and may have broad impacts. Exercises independent judgment in developing methods and techniques and evaluating criteria for obtaining results. Works in alignment with Claims Process Managers.

Your work:

  • Supports audit oversight internally and externally by providing requested data materials to auditors, validating information, and acting as Subject Matter Expert to interpret and address audit questions.
  • Partners with claims centers when a complaint is filed by an insured or claimant regarding the handling of a claim, including denials. Reviews and analyzes claims file to ensure compliance with state DOI regulations and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Participates in developing strategies for deployment of Claims-wide initiatives, including those specific to one or more Claims disciplines. Partners on implementations and has accountability for assigned pieces of implementation projects.
  • Identifies need to create or update Claims documents including Policy and Procedures Guide, shared drive contents, SharePoint site and Policy Matrix. Maintains, creates, and redesigns materials as needed.
  • Fields, researches, troubleshoots, and responds to ad hoc requests and questions, providing Subject Matter Expert support to the business relating to all DOI, legislative, compliance and policy and procedures issues. Recommends changes to statutory language to ensure correctness and compliance.
  • Manage updates for corporate compliance regulatory reporting (i.e., Medicare, NJAIRE, OFAC, Kansas Fire, etc.).
  • Stays apprised of industry best practices and changes to existing and new regulations. Reviews, analyzes, and determines impacts on Claims and ensures current information is available and communicated to Claims organization. Creates and deploys Claims-wide communications in the Policy and Standards space.
  • Engages with other lines of business (e.g., Product, Underwriting, etc.) to determine rate and policy language impacts of lower complexity to Claims. Discerns and takes appropriate actions to address.

Required Experience, Education and Skills

  • 5+ years of claims or related insurance experience
  • Bachelor's degree in related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Claims technical knowledge and claims handling ability
  • Detail-orientation
  • Knowledge of Commercial organization, products, policies, and procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to craft effective communications to audiences throughout Claims organization
  • Good analytical and research skills
  • Knowledge of claims best practices
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in use of claims systems
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of state and federal insurance regulations, including multi-state DOIs
