We’re hiring a Collections Litigation Paralegal for our Corporate HQ in Columbia, MO and we’re looking for someone who’s ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Collections Paralegal that involves assisting with all aspects of litigation, including drafting discovery, pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements, as well as filing documents with courts. The role requires tracking dockets and deadlines, coordinating with internal partners, maintaining case files, and communicating with legal professionals. Required skills include extensive computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Adobe, DocuSign, legal research tools, e-filing), the ability to work independently, strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and adaptability.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare initial drafts of discovery and assist with responses to discovery requests. 
  • Prepare initial drafts of pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and payment plans. 
  • File pleadings and other documents with courts in compliance with applicable rules and deadlines. 
  • Track dockets, court calendars, and litigation deadlines to ensure timely filings and responses. 
  • Coordinate with internal business partners to gather information and documentation related to lawsuits. 
  • Maintain organized case files and litigation records. 
  • Communicate with outside counsel, court staff, and opposing counsel as needed. 
  • Provide support in managing litigation workflow and case progression.

Skills & Qualifications 

  • Extensive computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Adobe, DocuSign and legal research tools; experience with e-filing systems preferred. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.

Education and Experience

  • At least 2 years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably in collections, commercial or creditors rights law 
  • Bachelor’s degree, Paralegal associate degree or other relevant certification is preferred

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
