Job Summary :
The Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer, plans, organizes, and directs all functions and activities (internal and external) within his / her realm of responsibility for Nursing and other services as assigned for Hendricks Regional Health. The Vice President establishes goals, objectives, and standards of performance; applies and ensures compliance with operating policies and procedures. Assures access to the communities we serve. Operationally leads clinical services, including the development, execution and accomplishments for budget and operations emphasizing access, growth, market needs, internal referrals, cost containment for patients, outstanding associate engagement and outstanding physician relations, patient experience, quality metrics, and hiring/retention and performance management. Is a member of CEO’s Management Council.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following functions describe the essential duties of this role. Individuals in this role may not perform all of these duties, or may perform additional, related duties not listed here.
- Lead, manage, and direct the nursing and clinical operations as assigned/requested. Accountable and responsible for Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement and fosters culture of continuous quality improvement. Assures associate and patient safety. Assures excellence in patient satisfaction.
- Assures regulatory compliance with Indiana State Nurse Practice Act, Hospital Licensure rules and po9licies, ACHA and other regulatory agencies.
- Supports schools of nursing and other hospital-based educational activities: Coordinates programs to maintain a learning environment and provide appropriate education experience.
- Assures competency of staff by completion of hospital, departmental, and position specific orientation, and continuing mandatory education and providing continuing education of associates.
- Responsible for developing, approving, and administering nursing policies and procedures, standards of practice which are evidence-based. Responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating an appropriate nursing delivery model utilizing nursing process.
- Works collaboratively with others including but not limited to various physicians, leaders and others in implementing the overall strategy of Nursing and others 90-day improvement teams.
- Assist in the design, development, implementation, and ongoing management of services, ensuring the provision of services are being provided in a cost and market competitive manner in collaboration with others on the leadership team.
- Coordinate and facilitate market and business development strategy with leadership.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the annual strategic and business plan as well as strategic short and long range plans. Ensure the execution of strategic plans to achieve goals and objectives related to Nursing. Meets or performs better than budget and achieves quality metrics and outcomes.
- In collaboration with Finance and Quality, will analyze information regarding efficient, cost-effective products, equipment, and services to decrease the cost of care while improving access and quality outcomes.
- Leads and achieves metrics for Nursing, works collaboratively with SHO (as example) in achieving success. Assures regulatory compliance in all aspects.
- Responsible for maintaining appropriate staff and coverage to meet/exceed productivity standards. Assures a safe patient and associate environment is a priority.
- Assists with reconciliation for productivity, incentive plans, metrics, contracts and other administrative responsibilities.
- Integral in recruitment and onboarding of leaders, providers and associates.
- Develop strong partnerships and relationships with all constituencies – associates, physicians, anticipating and meeting their needs, earning and maintaining credibility and trust. Including execution of contracts, policies, procedures, and other operational and leadership initiatives.
- Champion the image and reputation of HRH, with particular emphasis on access, quality, safety, service, and community relations. Participates in recruitment, onboarding and contracting of associates to HRH.
- Provide administrative oversight to meet the operational objectives ensuring that customer satisfaction, market needs and cost effectiveness are the guiding force in patient care delivery. Participates/leads the creation and execution of the annual budget process.
- Operates all areas of responsibility with strong business ethics and integrity.
- Serves or chairs committees and task forces as assigned and/or requested.
- Forecasts staff needs based on access, safety and quality of care.
- Regularly collaborates to assure timely performance of deadlines and other metrics to achieve goals. Reviews and celebrate highlights and share opportunities to improve the care delivery model and other important two-way communication topics.
- Is responsible to collaborate timely and effectively to retain associates. Performs effective and timely performance feedback. Leads and manages within the guidelines of HRH policy and process. Identifies potential solutions or alterations to ensure recruitment and retention and collaborates and shares with Human Resources as appropriate.
PREREQUISITE SKILLS:

- Candidate will determine critical factors for success and execute upon approval.
- Must have a working knowledge of healthcare operations, managed care, population health initiatives and expectations and provider relations.
- Excellent communication skills required.
- Must be able to travel to other facilities on and off campus.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
At least seven (7) years of progressive healthcare management experience highly preferred, including experience leading inpatient units. Experience in representing an organization professionally and externally.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Master’s degree required.
REQUIRED LICENSE:
Actively Licensed in the state of Indiana as a Registered Nurse.

SUPERVISES:
Directors and managers of nursing and other areas as assigned.
