CNN Internship Programme…

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside a team of dedicated and experienced journalists, attend regular editorial meetings and participate in the editorial process.

The internships are designed for journalism graduates or candidates from a related field seeking a career in journalism.

Available Opportunities…

CNNi Productions (Features TV & Digital)

The CNNi Productions team produces content across TV and digital for our feature series, such as Call to Earth, Inside Africa and Quest’s World of Wonder.

Interns will support with all aspects of digital and TV production, researching and planning stories, as well as writing scripts and articles.

The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for a story, strong organisational skills, an ability to multi-task, and a good understanding of both TV and digital platforms.

Current Affairs Programmes (Amanpour / Isa Soares)

The News programming internships offers candidates a unique opportunity to work across three of CNNi’s flagship shows: Amanpour and Isa Soares Tonight.

The intern will gain experience in both long-form current affairs & culture interviews, and breaking news rundowns. You will work on all aspects of production, including:

  • Reviewing and sourcing fresh & archival video
  • Researching and developing questions for interviews
  • Helping to write scripts
  • Pitching guest and story ideas
  • Requesting reporters
  • Helping to create graphics with show producers

The ideal candidate will be passionate about international news, know what makes a good guest interview, be able to work under pressure to strict deadlines and bring unique treatment ideas to major international stories of the day.

CNN News Desk Reporting

The International Hub is the beating heart of CNN’s global news reporting. It operates 24/7 across the world, with teams in Hong Kong, London, Atlanta and New York taking over as the day progresses. Our team of editors and reporters bring in all the latest editorial lines, with the assistance of regional bureaus, before disseminating it to the wider CNN network for reporting on all platforms (linear, digital, streaming and social).

As the Newsdesk Reporting intern, you will support the team in monitoring daily news, researching, reporting and writing news alerts, day-of stories and longer-term features. You will also contribute to CNN’s daily live story coverage and assist the team with production tasks.

Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Primary responsibilities include research, fact-checking, transcribing footage, assisting on shoots, contributing story and show ideas, attending planning and creative meetings and sourcing images and footage.

Qualifications & Experience…

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate journalism degree (not essential), vocational training and/or ability to illustrate a portfolio of work / content (eg: blogs, podcasts, YouTube Channel etc)
  • Passion for pursuing a career in journalism
  • Eager to learn
  • Detail-orientated
  • Strong writing and research skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Confidence to pitch story ideas and potential guests to show producers

The Internship...

  • Salary: £28,000 p/a (pro rata)
  • Contract Length: 6 months   
  • Start Date: 2nd March 2026
  • You will gain hands-on experience working on business-critical projects.  
  • You will have access to personal and professional development courses, executive speakers’ series, special screenings and more.  
  • You will be part of our Early Talent network of over 100 interns & apprentices, meaning you will have an important support network of other students, graduates and apprentices and plenty of opportunities to socialise! 

Next Steps… 

  • Stage 1: Submit your CV by Sunday 16th November (you will not be able to apply after this date). 
  • Stage 2: For eligible candidates, you will be invited to complete a written questionnaire in HireVue. The deadline for this is Sunday 23rd November.
  • Stage 3 (not all roles): For select roles, we will require candidates to complete an additional HireVue assessment consisting of written and/or video responses to questions. The deadline for this will be Sunday 30th November.
  • Final stage: Interviews will take place in January.

Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
