CNC Programmer - Machine/Team Lead

Position Summary:

The CNC Programmer /  Machine Lead is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the CNC machining department. This includes supervising machinists, ensuring production schedules are met, maintaining quality standards, and coordinating with engineering and maintenance teams. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of CNC machines, leadership experience, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Schedule: Monday - Thursday 5:00am - 3:30 pm

Hourly Range: $25 - $30

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of CNC machinists and operators across multiple shifts.
  • Schedule and prioritize work orders to meet production deadlines.
  • Set up, program and operate CNC machines as needed (mills, lathes, etc.).
  • Setup and operate manual control machines.
  • Design and create custom fixtures.
  • Document procedures such as set up sheets, tooling library, etc.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and provide technical support to team members.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards (ISO, AS9100, etc.).
  • Train and mentor new and existing employees on machining practices and procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality departments to resolve design or process issues.
  • Monitor tool wear, machine maintenance, and coordinating repairs or preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
  • Serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in productivity, quality, and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • 3 or more years of experience in CNC programming or a degree in CNC programming or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, GD&T, and using precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong knowledge of G-code programming and CNC controls (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, Mazak).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience in SolidWorks preferred.
  • Experience in Mastercam preferred.
  • Knowledge and Utilization of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook.

  • Able to recommend, advise, and execute improvements to the production process (techniques, tools, panel layout, materials, etc.)
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions (e.g., hot, cold, noisy).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the assembler requires repetitive motions, lifting, squatting, kneeling, bending, walking, torquing, pulling, carrying, crouching, backward positions, and standing for extended periods.
  • Assembly cell within a manufacturing plant with potential exposure to loud noises, machinery, and moving equipment.
