About the role

To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must be currently enrolled in an academic program. Proof of enrollment will be required.

The OTC Responsible Business Intern will support the OTC Responsible Business Lead in implementing the overarching Responsible Business strategy for the OTC category, aligning with Haleon's broader sustainability objectives.

Responsibilities will encompass various environmental initiatives aimed at reducing carbon footprint, enhancing packaging sustainability, ensuring ethically sourced ingredients, and promoting water stewardship and waste circularity. Additionally, social initiatives will focus greater inclusivity, enhancing health literacy, combating bias and prejudice, and improving healthcare accessibility.

The OTC Responsible Business Intern will be tasked with executing a diverse range of programmes within specified timelines and with a commitment to high-quality outcomes.

Reporting directly to the OTC Responsible Business Lead, the OTC Responsible Business Intern proposed role is under a 6-month internship contract and will be based in Nyon, Switzerland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies and plans to reduce waste in our Nyon site and campus, and Switzerland operations – aiming to find relevant outlets for products initially intended to waste, hence positively impacting our carbon footprint, and benefiting the community. The plan will need to respect the legal and regulatory constraints linked to over-the-counter medicines.

  • Lead the implementation of Haleon Brands initiatives on Nyon campus (and beyond) to leverage the power of our OTC Brands Otrivin, Voltaren, Panadol, Theraflu, and Advil to empower people to better health and well-being. Initiatives will include (non-exhaustive list) the relaunch of the VoltaGym outdoor gym, the launch of Panadol quiet spaces, the support of the pride week with Advil.

  • Develop content for the monthly internal newsletter for OTC Responsible Business, aiming to raise awareness of more discussed external sustainability topics and providing perspective on competitive activities in the field.

  • Develop handy one-pagers aiming to provide the essential information on priority Responsible Business topics to upskill the organization and support operationalization.

  • Compile a comprehensive overview of the sustainability abd social impact strategies, goals, and results to date for the top FMCG and FMCH competitors, aiming to support ESG competitive intelligence effort.

  • Currently pursuing studies in Environmental Sciences or Sustainability Management, demonstrating a keen interest in these fields.

Qualifications and skills

Essential

  • Degree in environmental science or sustainability focus, or a related field

  • Passionate about driving sustainability and social impact initiatives, with a proactive approach to innovation.

  • Demonstrates disciplined organization and autonomy in task management, coupled with a curious and eager-to-learn attitude.

  • Fluent in English

Valuable

  • French proficiency would represent a plus

  • Familiarity with logistics and regulatory affairs would be advantageous.
