OVERVIEW:  This position will have an important role on the Corvette ZO6 GT3 Assembly Team and have responsibilities both at the shop and track.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS:  Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Mechanic Oversight

  • Provide direction, communicate requirements, and ensure accountability to team and company objectives.
  • Mentoring and training of Junior and Level 1 mechanics to align process and quality of work with overall team expectation.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and lead the plan to realize improvements.
  • Support and guide Junior Mechanics (Assembly Tech) to follow processes and use resources available to complete tasks accurately and timely.

Vehicle Preparation

  • Build and prepare vehicle ahead of each event ensuring that all tasks have been accounted for according to the build sheet.
  • Build subassemblies using build specifications and drawings.
  • Work closely with Build Manger and Engineer to prioritize vehicle reliability and performance development.
  • Car assemblies to the drawings and engineering requirements.
  • Refine and develop thorough practices and understanding of all subsystems and assemblies of the vehicles.

Trackside Execution

  • Responsible to ensure that the mechanics and the car are ready to execute all phases of the event:   
  • Vehicle service and preparation
  • Additional team tasks (setup/teardown/etc.)

Shop Execution

  • Organization and cleanliness of work area.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following area will be assigned as required.

  • Support Pratt Miller initiatives, marketing events, and general development as necessary.
  • Provide feedback on product needs and processes.
  • Develop leadership skills.
  • Work with the Build Manager, Engineers, and Operations Manager to create a common level of preparation on vehicle.
  • Positive and team-first attitude.
  • Look for and identify ways to improve your skillset.
  • Bring any issues to the Supervisor and Operations Manager for solutions.
  • Focus on learning and enhancing understanding of the vehicle systems.
  • Additional team tasks (setup/teardown/etc.).
  • Some travel may be required.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferred Motorsports experience with a focus on mechanical vehicle preparation, car development, and event execution.
  • SAE Certification preferred.
  • Experience with automotive repair.
  • Experience working in a small team to achieve program goals and continuously improve.
     

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Stress may occur periodically.
  • Physical labor is a regular part of daily work.
     

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

  • Long hours may be required at times.
