In accordance with state and department guidelines, this position performs a combination of duties which include responding to consumer complaints, state audits and inquiries, monitoring industry circulars and other regulatory and legislative changes, and data calls. The position will work closely with Legal, and Corporate Compliance to interpret requirements into desired actions, and provide recommendations to leadership for implementing changes.

The role will need to keep up with state/territory issues and regulations which impact CNA products and processes and ensure requirements are defined and aligned, facilitating collaboration and monitoring progress throughout.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

  • Ensures implementation of required regulatory changes. This role serves as an advisor to underwriting peers, acting as a liaison between legal and underwriting as needed.
  • Monitors circulars and bulletins, keeping a pulse on key trends impacting Commercial and Specialty including DOI and Regulatory Agency bulletins, APCIA releases, and ISO/NCCI actions. Translates key trends into actionable insights for change.
  • Collaborates with business partners in Legal, and Corporate Compliance to drive requirements and address issues and opportunities across the business unit.
  • Acts as the liaison with Information Technology to ensure systems and applications meet the business demands.
  • Provides analysis and decision support when responding to market conduct exams and audits. Interacts and collaborates with multiple disciplines to gather information, perform analysis, and makes recommendations to management to drive continuous improvement.
  • Acts as business project coordinator for changes requiring multiple business partners, working with a project team to accomplish goals.
  • Participates with underwriting line of business stakeholders in the development and implementation of new compliance requirements.
  • Leads the responses to state inquiries and objections by researching concerns, developing alternatives, and confirming resolution with all parties.
  • Leads special projects as needed and may mentor other team members.

Education & Experience

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.  Professional designations preferred. 
2. Typically a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.  Prior insurance industry experience preferred.

In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $71,000 to $133,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
