Job Description
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join our Amcor Appleton team. As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining various types of machinery to produce high-quality products. This is a great opportunity to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment and contribute to the production of precision components.
Shift Schedule:
12-hour, 2-2-3 straight nights
Compensation:
Starting pay $25.18/hour (based on experience)
$1.20/hour night shift premium available + 1.5x pay on Sundays
Purpose
Responsible for lamination of variety of films in accordance with customer requirements.
Duties
Reads and comprehends production order specification and requirements of scheduled customer orders. Completes production report and all other required paperwork. Operates flexible packaging dry bond adhesive laminators according to production requirements and standards.
Monitors and maintains quality by flagging defective materials. Performs quality control checks to assure quality and requirements are met. Inputs necessary data into the computer. Operates lift truck and adheres to established power lift truck rules and guidelines. Performs startup/shutdown procedures; maintains and adjusts machine during operation; initiates change overs.
Performs assistant duties when person is absent, unavailable or as needed. Assists maintenance when necessary. Maintains cleanliness of laminating solvent room. Maintains machine logs. Practices safety at all times in compliance with company safety mission and philosophy. Follows all applicable instructions. Ensures compliance to standard operating procedures for setup, run and cleanup of laminator equipment. Conducts machine trials and evaluations. Adhere to Good Manufacturing and Prerequisite Program requirements to ensure safe food packaging. Awareness of and adherence to all Corporate and Site Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures, including Food Safety.
Adheres to core values and actively contributes to a high performance culture. Comply with all 5S, Cleaning, Lubrication, Inspection & Tightening (CILT) requirements. Be an active participant in teams and initiatives. Cross-training in other departments and on other machines as needed. All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
Basic knowledge of computers; Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with SAP preferred. If there is a deficiency in the desired qualifications training will be provided. Two–six weeks of training with an experienced operator required. High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Prior experience as laminator operator is preferred but not required. Demonstrates knowledge of film structures and applications. Knowledge of adhesives, properties, and capabilities. Understands interactions of process control and its effect on adhesive applications. Candidate has significant experience as laminator assistant or comparable position.

The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
