The Associates Benefits Adviser is responsible for growing membership by selling GEHA medical and dental plans to prospective members by incoming phone calls, chat, and text. Works independently and remotely with periodic supervision to monitor performance. The Adviser also maintains a high level of knowledge of GEHA plans and effectively communicates GEHA plan offerings to federal and postal employees, federal retirees, and military retirees.

SKILLS

  • Drives sales growth by providing one-on-one consultative selling of GEHA medical and dental plans to newly hired or newly eligible federal and postal employees, federal retirees, and military retirees, mostly by incoming phone, chat, text, and email platforms.

  • Grows GEHA membership using persuasive communication skills.

  • Effectively uses virtual sales tools while engaging with prospective members to increase sales.

  • Maintains a strong understanding of all GEHA health and dental benefits and services.

  • Engages in other inside sales-related duties as needed.

  • Upholds GEHA Core Values.

REQUIREMENTS: Education & Experience

  • Associates degree, additional years of qualifying work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

  • Requires one year of experience in sales/service OR with health insurance, claims, communications, customer service, public relations, or marketing.

  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be available to work any regularly scheduled shift between the hours of 7:00 am – 7:00 pm CST (M-F).

  • Must be able to work remotely and independently, as well as the ability to collaborate with members of a team.

  • Must be reliable and adaptive to change.

  • Requires strong attention to detail and effective time management skills.

  • Exercises sound decision-making abilities.

  • Requires working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

  • Requires the ability to research and analyze plan documents.

  • Continues to refine sales skills through training and practice.

  • Accepts coaching willingly and has a drive to continually improve their performance.

PREFERRED:

  • Two years of work experience in inside sales or customer service (claims, communications, sales)

Work-at-home requirements

  • Must have the ability to provide a non-cellular High Speed Internet Service such as Fiber, DSL, or cable Modems for a home office.
  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 30x5 (30mpbs download x 5mpbs upload) is required.
  • Latency (ping) response time lower than 80 ms
  • Hotspots, satellite and wireless internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
  • A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.  GEHA considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

The annual base salary range for this position is $35,275 - $49,725 USD.
