About Generate:Biomedicines
Generate:Biomedicines is a new kind of therapeutics company – existing at the intersection of machine learning, biological engineering, and medicine – pioneering Generative Biology™ to create breakthrough medicines where novel therapeutics are computationally generated, instead of being discovered. The Company has built a machine learning-powered biomedicines platform with the potential to generate new drugs across a wide range of biologic modalities. This platform represents a potentially fundamental shift in what is possible in the field of biotherapeutic development.
We pursue this audacious vision because we believe in the unique and revolutionary power of generative biology to radically transform the lives of billions, with an outsized opportunity for patients in need. We are seeking collaborative, relentless problem solvers that share our passion for impact to join us!
Generate:Biomedicines was founded in 2018 by Flagship Pioneering and has received nearly $700 million in funding, providing the resources to rapidly scale the organization. The Company has offices in Somerville and Andover, Massachusetts with over 300+ employees.
The Role:
Generate Biomedicines is seeking to expand the Therapeutic Research team by recruiting a highly motivated, talented, and independent in-vivo researcher (Senior Research Associate) to join our diverse, innovation-focused team pioneering novel therapies for human disease. The successful candidate will play an integral role in designing and executing in vivo experiments to support multiple Immuno-oncology and inflammation programs. Responsibilities include proper experiment design, data analysis and interpretation, documentation, and presenting work in internal meetings and reports. We seek an enthusiastic, innovative, well-organized individual who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The position requires outstanding in-vivo animal skills, attention to detail, and a passion for creating new medicines for patients.
Here's how you will contribute:
- Support the execution of in vivo experiments in mouse models to assess the function and pharmacology of therapeutic pipelines across diverse therapeutic areas, including inflammatory diseases and oncology, under guidance and supervision.
- Conduct animal manipulation (handling, i.p., i.v., s.c., and i.m. injections), sample collection, and tissue processing in compliance with IACUC protocols and animal welfare standards.
- Execute efficacy and PK/PD in vivo studies under supervision.
- Analyze, review, and present data within groups and cross-functionally at department meetings.
- Adhere to standard laboratory practices and company policies, including maintaining electronic notebooks and following biosafety protocols.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- MSc in a relevant discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a BSc in a relevant discipline with 4+ years of experience; industry experience preferred.
- MSc/BSc in Immunology, Biology, Physiology, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Extensive experience and a strong desire to work with animals, preferably in an industrial setting.
- Required: ability to perform i.p. and i.v. dosing in mice and tail vein blood collection.
- Hands-on experience with in vivo tumor models is desired.
- Experience managing CROs is desired.
- Proven track record of performing in vivo procedures in rodents, including preparation and administration of biotherapeutics. Demonstrated ability to execute experiments, analyze data, and share assay data with project teams and research leadership.
- Proficiency with MS Office and standard programs for statistical analysis (e.g., GraphPad Prism). Excellent cross-functional collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, team-oriented environment with colleagues from diverse disciplines.
