As a Specialist, you'll be in a forward-facing role that oversees the end-to-end transition and onboarding process for new plan sponsor clients within Retirement Plans.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and manages the implementation/conversion/ of all TPA and PPA New Business/Conversion Plans. May be involved in implementation/conversion of basic bundled plans.

  • Coordinates the New Business/Conversion process with Internal New Business/Conversion teams, Sales and Administrators to ensure a successful conversion to Nationwide.

  • Interacts with advisory, plan sponsors, administrators, prior record keepers and funding providers to coordinate all activities within the New Business/Conversion experience.

  • Helps drive retention initiatives at Nationwide through interactions and consultations with Private Sector retention team. Collaborates with Retention Team and manages product conversion activity generated by that group (Conversion team).

  • Functions as a subject matter resource for all Nationwide products, processes, answers complex questions from all input channels.

  • Resolves complicated and escalated service and sales issues for internal and external partners.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationship: Reports to manager and does not have direct reports. 

Typical Skills and Experiences:


Education: Bachelor's degree preferred with a concentration in business, marketing, finance or related field or equivalent related work experience. Participation in professional development programs such as ASPPA, CEBS or NIPA is desirable.

License/Certification/Designation: Series 6 - Associates must obtain the required Federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails or is unable to obtain required licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.

Experience: Typically, 3 to 5 years in pension design, administration, record keeping or related financial services experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Basic knowledge of retirement plan funding platforms and ERISA retirement plan fundamentals and concepts or advanced knowledge of retirement plan funding platforms or ERISA retirement plan fundamentals. Basic knowledge of industry competitor practices in the areas of plan transition, conversation process, and conversation reporting. Thorough understanding with Nationwide private sector retirement plan platform, products, capabilities, processes, and policies within specific assigned service model(s). Strong client relationship management skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to effectively communicate technical and complex information into easily understood terms. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to interact effectively with company owners, advisory, and Nationwide executives. Project coordination skills, research and problem-solving skills, manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Skills required to review, research, and recommend solutions to issues encountered within the end-to-end New Business/Conversion experience. Ability to identify potential escalated issues and enlists management support as appropriate.

Nationwide pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement within the actual starting salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. If a Sales job, Sales Incentives, based on performance goals are possible in addition to this range.

The national salary range for Specialist, Plan Implementation : $61,000.00-$126,500.00

The expected starting salary range for Specialist, Plan Implementation : $68,000.00 - $102,000.00
