JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Group Leader of the Libraries and Creative Agencies, the Group Finance Director is responsible for the financial operations of the group, including finance and accounting, compliance with statutory requirements and risk management. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Management  

  • Support General Managers and functional managers to develop clear business plans, priorities and forecasts in line with +/- 5% forecast accuracy targets   
  • Coach and Lead the VBU Finance Managers within supported business to deliver excellent pro-active service to stakeholders.
  • Own the Monthly Management report and host monthly results &operations review with the General Manager.
  • Provide strategic financial leadership on issues affecting the business  
  • Set tactical recommendation leading to improve sustainable growth performance, increase EBITA, and improve working capital.

While this is a director position, when needed, you will need to adopt a ‘hands on’ approach to fulfill our financial and reporting obligations.
i.e. in case of open position not yet field this could range from vendor payment/customer invoicing/closing the books to managing the team in place to do this, depending on the size of the VBU.

  

Finance & Reporting  

  • Accountable for accurate and timely monthly/quarterly consolidated financial reporting to ensure compliance of internal and external reporting and requirements in accordance with IFRS
  • Responsible for the accuracy of revenue recognition, comfortable operating under IFRS15/ASC606, including holding VBUs accountable for project accounting and controlling  
  • Generate, monitor, analyze and enforce Key Performance Indicators (KPI)   
  • Management, the ‘Quarterly Strategic Review’ (QSR) process, ensuring the VBUs are using extensive Excel modeling, pipeline and costs analysis to prepare a robust forecast. Audit the initial forecast submission and review forecast with Group Leader and General Manager

  

Governance & Risk  

  • Apply best practices to processes, people and systems to affect revenue, profitability and cash-flow, to improve operating efficiency and performance  

  • Assist with the implementation of new systems and processes such as new financial systems, expense management and other reporting systems  

  • Responsible for Risk Management process review, effective internal controls, policy standardization and process improvements   

  • Oversee and improve effective administration processes and systems for company

  • Stay abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance for the finance functions  

  

Legal  

  • Work closely with all functional leads to ensure projects bids and contract terms, financial and otherwise, adhere to corporate parameters.

Integration

  • Participate in the evaluation of existing finance resources and assist in the hiring of appropriate staff as required 
  • Support the Integration Manager in training and coaching the acquired management team on finance topics with a focus on them understanding how it will operationally impact their departments
  • As needed, support the acquired finance team in the migration of finance systems and processes to portfolio best practices, including the training of finance resources
  • Travel domestically and internationally for business process review and integration
    .

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES / EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • High integrity and personal ethics due to sensitive issues and information this role entails.
  • Desire to improve processes and systems rather than just keep the status quo.
  • Strong communication skills to work across time zones and cultural differences.
  • Well organized, detail-oriented and able to work variable hours when required.

BENEFICIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

  • CPA
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP and IFRS for software (specifically IFRS 15 & 16)
  • Experience with BPC and GP is an asset
  • Preferred controllership and/or industry experience. Software company experience would be an asset.
  • Aptitude for coaching and mentoring – previous management experience would be an asset
  • Positive, high-energy, self-motivated
  • Ability to travel up to 35%
  • Excellent spoken and written English

Note: From time to time, flexible and adjusted hours will be required as Portfolio Finance team is based in Australia.
