The Opportunity:

The Senior Specialist Cancer Registry Accreditation monitors processes to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards established by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, and other regulatory and accreditation bodies.

Responsibilities:

• Provides oversight and direction for accreditation bodies including but not limited to the ACoS Commission on Cancer and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Center. This includes scheduling and hosting meetings, prioritizing tasks, prepping agendas, completing minutes, running, and analyzing reports, auditing data and ensuring compliance with all standards.

• Oversees the programs accreditation process for those facilities undergoing their initial accreditation process or their reaccreditation process by completing their PRQ process and working with other key members of the cancer committee.

• Audit 10% of cancer registry data for each CoC Accredited facility to assess compliance with required data points.

• Coordination of on-going projects, quality initiatives and goals for each facility.

• Auditing projects to assess compliance with monthly synoptic operative reports, AJCC staging by providers, continuing education requirements, treatment outcome measures and cancer conference requirements.

• Utilization of NCDB quality tools and knowledge of how the standards and data support patient care and outcomes. Will assist in the Annual NCDB Call for Data review and submission to ensure cases are reported error free.

• Hosts and leads quarter cancer committee meetings along with monthly subcommittee meetings.

• Run, analyze, and prepare reports for data requests by administration, NCCN guideline reviews, CAP protocol audits and RCRS data measures.

• Serves as a liaison between the cancer registry and the cancer committee and tumor board members by collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

• Assist in review and creation of policies and procedures as needed per the accreditation standards and needs of each facility.

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned which include case finding, follow-up, cancer conferences, abstracting and up to 20% individual quality control audits as needed based on the needs of the department.

Experience We Love:

• 1-3 years of previous experience with Cancer Registry

• Demonstrates working knowledge of CoC and NAPBC standards and accreditation process.

• Demonstrates working knowledge of Reportable List and coding of ICD-O site and histology.

• Demonstrates working knowledge to code topography and morphology of registered cancer cases.

• Good, positive customer focused interpersonal and business telephone skills.

• Robust communication skills including strong English verbal skills and the ability to read and understand English language.

• Good organizational and follow-through skills.

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to rapidly changing situations.

• Must have excellent computer skills and knowledge-must be familiar with or able to learn various cancer registry and medical record applications.

• Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work

Minimum Education:

• Associates Degree or Equivalent Experience

Required Certification:

• ODS Certification
