The Arts & Sciences Student Services and Admissions Office is a large and dynamic unit dedicated to delivering excellent service to students, faculty, and staff.  The office staff support a one-stop student services model for the college’s 4,700 undergraduate students from time of admission to graduation. Our staff help guide each student on their path to success, however they define it, building a foundation for lifelong growth, opportunity, and discovery.

The Opportunity

The College of Arts & Sciences (A&S) is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Admissions Operations Coordinator to provide critical administrative support to our Admissions team. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth processing of application materials for both first-year and transfer admissions. The Coordinator will act as the front office liaison with the Undergraduate Admissions Office processing team, while also interfacing with academic departments, applicants, their families, and school counselors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Application Processing: Assist with the general processing of application materials for first-year and transfer admissions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

  • Liaison Duties: Serve as the primary point of contact between the A&S Admissions Office and the Undergraduate Admissions Office processing team, fostering clear communication and collaboration.

  • Dean’s Certification Management: Oversee the Dean’s Certification process and manage continuing student transfer credit requests.

  • Stakeholder Interaction: Interface with academic departments, applicants and their families, and school counselors to provide guidance and support throughout the admissions process.

  • Administrative Support: Report to the Director of Administration, supporting the Sr. Associate Dean and unit directors in their roles, and collaborating with admissions, advising, and registrar colleagues.

  • Serve as a resource to department undergraduate coordinators and partner with various university offices, including the Undergraduate Admissions Office, to achieve the University’s enrollment goals.

This is a full-time (39 hours/week) endowed position that is based in Ithaca, NY and fully on-site.  Typical work hours are 8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday.

  • Hold an Associate's degree and 2 to 4 years relevant experience or equivalent combination.

  • Have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Utilize effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Have the aptitude to quickly learn, database management and student information systems.

  • Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

  • Demonstrate commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.

  • Be able to effectively prepare written memos/emails and handle confidential information.

  • Bachelor’s degree, experience with PeopleSoft, Slate or Salesforce. Knowledge of Cornell and experience working in an academic unit.
