Job Summary: The position is located in The Privacy Staff, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Global Information Services, Bureau of Administration (A/GIS/PRV), in the U.S. Department of State. The incumbent provides expert advice and guidance on all aspects of the Department's data breach-related policies, activities, and issues in support of management, staff, and customers.
Major Duties:
- Provides recommendations to improve specific program activities based on departmental priorities.
- Analyzes and evaluates the full range of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data breach incidents.
- Collects and develops data/statistics on breaches and prepares reports for management on breach incidents.
- Participates in the review of policies and procedures related to privacy breaches.
- Provides expert advice and guidance on all aspects of the Department's data breach -related policies, activities, and issues.
Qualifications: Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F. Applicants must meet all the qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience investigating data breaches of Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Experience providing advice and guidance to senior management concerning privacy data loss/breach policies and procedures. Experience developing and presenting privacy recommendations for new business processes. Experience managing complex projects. There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
