Role Purpose:

A key focus for HR is to support Lonza become a data-driven organization so that business decisions can be made quickly, based on solid, reliable data. The purpose of the Global Data & Content Governance Manager role is to establish, strengthen and monitor governance on the policies, processes and data sets that will support a seamless end to end data flow and one source of truth for information along the workforce lifecycle.

What you’ll do

The role will be leading the execution of HR content and data governance efforts while driving the functional efforts to accelerate Lonza’s move into a data-driven organization and embed Lonza’s data strategy. You will closely work together with various parties in the HR Center’s of Excellence  with the goal of embedding data and definition ownership, advance an integrated HR data model understanding along the Workforce lifecycle, enhancing the one source of truth for HR with global HR, process and data taxonomy.

Your key contacts will be the Global Process Owners as content and data owners,  Digital HR and Insights who provides the technical enablement, solutions or reports  and HR Services who manage data entries and the delivery of services. You also will partner with other functions as needed.

You will work closely with and support data owners and stakeholders throughout the organization. Areas of focus are also likely to be varied, but will include HR’s knowledge base as one source of truth, HR Master data sources, and transactional data. Success will be achieved as the business is able to rely upon data to make accurate and timely decisions and the data-driven culture becomes a competitive advantage.

Key Accountabilities and Duties:

  • Develop and drive the data governance and its implementation across the HR organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements. Coordination of global initiatives related to Data governance
  • Guide and support data owners in various teams and cross-regional projects/programs, fostering a culture of data ownership and accountability
  • Design and deliver training programs to educate colleagues on data governance policies, roles and their responsibilities, tools, standards, and best practices
  • Continuously evaluate and improve data governance processes, incorporating industry best practices and new technologies
  • Support and enhance the efforts of building HR’s One Source of Truth for documents and content with focus on global policy and data definitions
  • Support process and data owners in develop control structures within our platforms to ensure that the accuracy and quality of content and data is fit for purpose.
  • Help establishing regular controls on HR’s knowledge and data platforms to ensure the HR data and information along the entire workforce lifecycle is complete and current. Escalate potential Data Governance issues as a result.
  • Support data and content stakeholders, ensuring all deadlines are met and reports are completed.
  • Ensure the Data and Content Governance documentation are always up to date; propose and implement enhancements where appropriate.
  • Act as an ambassador for data and content excellence across HR CoEs of Lonza.
  • Keep up with changes in the industry and working with peers and colleagues within Lonza to ensure an appropriate framework is in lived to meet future needs.

Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience working in data and content management and an understanding of data governance practices
  • Good understanding of Data Governance enabling technologies
  • Advanced Project Management
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Leadership in the matrix organization
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and to navigate complex decision points
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to promote data culture change across the organization
  • Dynamic “can do” attitude with a strong desire to improve and make things happen
  • Experience developing and producing Stakeholder reporting
  • A genuine interest in how organizations tick with an analytical mind-set and the ability to review and interrogate data

Desirable Skills:

  • Good experience in analytical and storytelling skills
  • Experience in facilitating workshops employing different techniques to lead participants to consensus
  • Previous experience working with Workday, Service Now, Knowledge Bases and reporting tools like Power BI
