What you’ll be doing 

This is an exciting time to be joining CIBC’s Cloud Engineering and Transformation team.  We are looking for a Cloud Engineer, Infrastructure Management who brings experience specifically in working with containers and container orchestration platforms.  This role is for someone who is passionate about building innovative solutions with new challenges and technologies while making an impact. You will provide technical leadership during the design, build, configuration, implementation and maintenance phases of containerizing, and migrating containerized applications to the public/private Cloud.  You will lead and influence internal partners across the enterprise and will be challenged to learn and adapt to multiple technologies.  You will decide how infrastructure is built and recommend infrastructure standards for organization, orchestration and Automation in a public/private cloud environment and provide level 3 support to resolve technology related incidents. You will also be expected to participate in a 24x7 rotating on-call schedule to address critical alerts and incidents.

How you’ll succeed     

  • Leadership & Communication – Collaborate with senior leaders across the company and make informed recommendations to enhance container and container orchestration related solutions. Weigh business needs against technology offerings, security concerns and provide recommendations to improve the user experience, which are practical and achievable.

  • Engineering - Lead the evaluation, selection and implementation of new and emerging products and technologies; support the development of business/technology proposals by estimating implementation costs and evaluating options. Facilitate configuration and work with Release Management tools. Provide technical expertise in the design, build and support RedHat Enterprise OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) on Private and Public cloud. Configure, manage, and monitor AKS clusters to ensure optimal performance and scalability.  

  • Leveraging technology - Become a CIBC technology expert. Share your knowledge by introducing users to resources available to them to better manage their needs. 

  • Governance support - Proactively contribute to governance initiatives, providing technical and business advice, as well as insight on management processes. Contribute to the development of governance and risk-related company policies. 

Who you are  

  • You can demonstrate experience in design, implementation, management, and support of technologies and technology-based solutions dealing with containers and container orchestration.  Technical knowledge and subject matter expertise in container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, ARO, AKS, GKE. Proficiency with DevOps and automation tools. Familiarity with x86 Architecture and experience with system administration in either Linux or Windows will be valuable in this environment. Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is also helpful. Additionally, SRE experience or certification would be considered an asset.
