The 18-bed G62 Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) treats high-acuity medical conditions requiring critical attention and specializes in various procedures, including bronchoscopies, endoscopies, emergent intubations and central line placements. As a Clinical Technician on this team, you will assist with basic patient care, maintain room cleanliness and demonstrate empathy and compassion in all activities and interactions. Ultimately, your efforts play a direct role in our mission to continuously provide the best healthcare experience possible to everyone within the CC system. 

 

This position is part of Cleveland Clinic’s Weekender Flex Program and will require you to work two 12-hour shifts per weekend and one 12-hour shift during the week. While you are only working 36 hours a week, Cleveland Clinic will pay you for 44 hours of work and give you full-time status and benefits. This schedule allows caregivers to enjoy personal time during the week with family and friends and take care of any errands that will not interfere with a typical day shift schedule. 

 

A caregiver in this role works weekend + 1 day/night shift, from 7:00am—7:30pm.  

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley Catheters. 

  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.  

  • Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.  

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High School Diploma/GED 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hire period (Nursing students required to have BLS prior to hire) 

  • One year of recent, full-time patient care experience  

  • OR Additional education/training may substitute for some/all of the stated experience (i.e. mental health experience) 

  • Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience 

  • Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
