Clinical Pharmacist, Medical Affairs - Medicare Formulary Administration

Position Summary

The Clinical Pharmacist engages within the Medical Affairs - Medicare Formulary Administration team to support the creation and maintenance of the CVS Caremark’s standard and client-modified Medicare formularies and utilization management edits.

 

This role is responsible for supporting the immediate team, Clinical Advisors and other teams to prepare CMS formulary files and formulary drug lists, work with the team to provide direction to internal partners to implement utilization management related processes, projects, and requests.

 

This is a hybrid role, based in-office 3 days/week with the opportunity to work from home the remaining days. Candidate must reside in commutable distance to our Buffalo Grove, IL, Pittsburgh, PA or Scottsdale, AZ office locations.



Required Qualifications

- 2+ years clinical pharmacist experience in managed care (PBM) pharmacy setting and/or completion of managed care residency

- Active pharmacist license that is in good standing

- Demonstrated ability to work with large data sets and leverage MS Excel and/or MS Access, as well as other data analytics tools and platforms

- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects

- Demonstrated ability to recognize problems and/or issues and engage team to bring to resolution

- Demonstrated understanding of formulary management and utilization management

- Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge or previous experience to support team work


Preferred Qualifications

- Pharmacy Practice or Managed Care residency

- Demonstrated experience with formulary management, Medicare Part D, PBM and Managed Care, drug file and adjudication

- Experience working with RxClaim and claims adjudication

- Knowledge of regulatory environment and applicable standards

- Excellent oral and written communications skills

- Excellent organizational skills

- Ability to resolve problems by influencing or motivating others

- Demonstrated ability to think strategically

Education

· Bachelor’s degree Pharmacy - required

· Doctorate PharmD - preferred

· Registered Pharmacist - required

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$118,000.00 - $206,250.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
