Job Overview

The Lombardi Clinical Trials Office (CTO) is a shared institutional resource of the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) at Georgetown University. It provides administrative and clinical operations support for cancer clinical trials conducted by Lombardi investigators.

Reporting directly to the Lombardi CTO Administrative Director, the
Clinical Operations Team Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Clinical Operations Team, one of six functional areas within the Lombardi CTO. This role provides expert leadership by managing all aspects of clinical trial planning, study coordination, and research laboratory operations.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervising, guiding, and directing the Clinical Operations Team, which includes Clinical Research Nurses, Clinical Research Coordinators, and Research Laboratory Technicians

  • Actively engaging in the performance management process for all Clinical Operations Team members, including training, feedback, and development

  • Developing and implementing effective collaboration strategies with investigators and team members to ensure project objectives and timelines are met

  • Partnering with Lombardi CTO and Cancer Center leadership to build and sustain a Clinical Operations Team that supports the research mission of the Lombardi CTO

 

Work Interactions
This position requires the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups, including:

  • LCCC and Lombardi CTO Leadership: Administrative Director, Medical Director, and other senior leaders

  • Lombardi CTO Functional Area Managers

  • Lombardi CTO Team Members:

  • Direct reports, including Clinical Research Nurses, Clinical Research Coordinators, and Research Laboratory Technicians

  • Cross-functional colleagues within the Data, Regulatory, Investigator-Initiated Trials (IIT) Office, and Administrative Teams

Lombardi Disease Group Members: Principal Investigators, physicians, and clinicians involved in clinical research activities

Institutional Departments and Staff: Infusion nurses, oncology and research pharmacists, hospital personnel, the Office of Research Quality Assurance, Clinical Research Operations Office, Office of Sponsored Research, MedStar Health Research Institute, and other MedStar departments and collaborators

External Partners: Clinical trial sponsors and representatives, auditors, study monitors, consortium partners, and contracting agencies

 

Requirements and Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree, biological science, health science, or health-related field

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of related experience in a clinical research discipline

  • At least three (3) years of experience managing a team

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in biological science, health science, or health-related field

  • Nursing degree

  • Experience managing oncology clinical trials

  • Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP), Certified Clinical Research Associate (CCRA), or Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) preferred and required within 2 years of hire

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$66,783.00 - $126,720.23

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
