Facilitates the educational development and professional growth of assigned nursing, clinical and lab personnel. Responsibilities include development and implementation of orientation, in-service and continuing education for the staff, including new employee orientation period mandatories, point of care lab testing checkoffs, and annual clinical skills check-offs.The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:
Assists in assessment of clinic processes and identifies opportunities for improvement
Participates in development, implementation, and evaluation of Medical Group goals
Coordinates planning and presentation of formal/informal education for all clinic staff within the clinics
Facilitates staff participation in program development and implementation
Provides input to the physician Office Manager and clinical leader for staff evaluations
Functions as a preceptor by providing classroom and clinic instruction for orientation and/or internships for all clinic staff
Responsible for communicating requirements for education files and completion of staff competencies to Physician Office Managers.
Attends meetings and participates on associated committees including but not limited to Clinical Educator Meetings, Quality, Infection Prevention, Point of Care, and Lab VAT
Conducts training on new equipment or products as changes occur within the health system
Participates in internal audits for infection prevention processes, Quality and Safety, and POCT
Other duties as assigned
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Associate’s degree in nursing required
Registered Nurse licensure in North Carolina required
Current AHA BLS required
Must be enrolled in Bachelor’s degree program within six months of employment with a completion date of three years from enrollment
Must obtain AHA BLS Instructor certification within six months of hire date
3 years Outpatient Clinical setting nursing experience preferred
Positive interpersonal skills
Effective organizational, teaching and leadership skills
Travel between clinic sites in the region is required
Travel to educational conferences is required
Verbal abilities for making presentations
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
Position may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
Visual/auditory acuity
