What’s the role
You will be a key player in our Societal Impact and Energy Transition program team in Shell Brasil’s Corporate Relations team. One of our objectives is to shape Shell Brazil’s Climate and Carbon Management policy positions—including carbon markets, GHG management, Decarbonization technologies and — and align advocacy efforts with Shell’s business strategy and global policy (e.g., Article 6, IMO compliance). Also, assist in managing an integrated sustainability governance framework, helping leadership articulate sustainable practices and identify risks and opportunities beyond climate change.
What you’ll be doing
The role will be responsible for the following duties:
Support the development and maintenance of the Climate and Carbon Management policy positions in Brazil aligned with Shell Group strategy.
Help ensure accessibility and understanding of emerging laws and regulations across relevant business units and functions, translating their impact.
Support advocacy initiatives aimed at shaping regulations aligned with Shell’s strategic interests at both country and group levels, while representing the company in key coalitions (e.g., IBP, CEBDS) and think tanks (e.g., CEBRI).
Monitor and proactively flag challenges, risks, and opportunities from emerging regulations related to the climate and carbon agenda.
Secure and maintain reliable information to inform business decisions and strategic positioning.
Support the line manager to run and maintain an integrated governance framework for Shell Brazil’s sustainability agenda.
Help leadership articulate sustainable ways of working and identify opportunities to externally articulate our message.
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in Brazil on a full-time basis for anyone other than the current employer
Bachelor’s degree in related field
5–10 years of experience in a mix of business, government/diplomatic
Experience in Issues Management and Crisis Management
Good knowledge of governance and business control frameworks
A good understanding of business drivers and potential risks relevant to the organization’s industry and operations.
A good knowledge and understanding of public policy and business and technical capabilities as they relate to the energy industry generally
Good research and analytical skills are key
Strong personal and business integrity
Capacity to multi-task and manage complexity
Ability to manage and deliver against short deadlines
Strong influencing/motivating skills and ability to drive delivery through others
Strong interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels
Good communicator—verbal and written
