SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Child Care Director, the Child Care Center Nurse is responsible for the health needs of children at the child care center, and provides supervision of teacher aides

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attends to the health needs of all children at the center: maintains appropriate storage and shelf life of medications, dispenses medication as appropriate, provides first aid, and performs medical procedures as necessary.
- Develops ongoing policy as it applies to COVID-19 or other health and safety needs as they may arise. Ensuring the guidelines and protocols are up to date and in compliance with RRH, OCFS, CDC and MCDOH.
- Maintain accurate and up to date medical records: children’s immunizations, physicals, required paperwork for medications and Allergies (Health Care Plans)
- Communicates to families and staff of policy to ensure adherence to health and safety protocol and standards.
- Maintains compliance and communication with state licensing and accreditation standards, as well as, DSS, CACFP, MCHD and assigned Health Care Consultant.
- Conducts monthly Fire and Safety Inspection of entire building and grounds. Ensures all corrective measures are taken as needed.
- Supervises Teacher Aides: including interviews, hires, discipline processes, writes and reviews performance appraisals annually
- Provide new staff orientation and documents required staff training hours to remain in compliance with OCFS.
- Updates biannually the Center Menu and submits for CACFP approval.
- Collaborate with RRH Food and Nutrition to make any necessary changes
- Create individualized menus for each child with food allergies or restrictions.
- Coordinates CPR and MAT trainings for all staff.
- Attends 15 hours of training per year.
- Writes quarterly newsletter articles relevant to Health and Safety
- Works in classroom as needed to maintain NYS ratios
- In the Director’s absence, coordinates daily operations of the center in partnership with other management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate from an accredited School of Practical Nursing if LPN license is held, or Diploma if RN license is held
- Current NYS license as an LPN or RN
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate Degree in early childhood development
- Experience working in a child care center or school district preferred.

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
