Job Summary

Reporting to the SVP GM Embedded Power ,We are seeking a visionary CTO of Embedded Power to lead the technological evolution of our high-efficiency power conversion solutions. As the primary technical authority, you will define the "Power of the Future" for the data center and high-performance computing markets. You will bridge the gap between immediate product execution and long-term innovation, driving roadmaps that look 2–5 years into the future. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise in power electronics, strategic roadmap planning, and the ability to foster high-level partnerships with both industry leaders and top-tier academic institutions.

This position will be located in Austin, TX.

What a typical day looks like:

Strategic Technical Leadership & Roadmap Definition (Years 2–5)

  • Long-Range Vision: Provide authoritative technical guidance to the Embedded Power Engineering Leadership team. You will move beyond immediate product release cycles to define the strategic roadmap for Year 2 through Year 5.
  • Market Alignment: Analyze emerging trends in hyperscale computing, AI/ML workload power demands, and global energy efficiency regulations to ensure the product roadmap anticipates market shifts.
  • Technology Scouting: Assess the viability of emerging topologies and materials to maintain a competitive edge in power density and efficiency.

Architecture & Advanced Engineering Collaboration

  • Future Architecture Design: Collaborate closely with Customers and Embedded Power Advanced Engineering Teams to architect the next generation of power solutions. Focus on solving the thermal and density challenges associated with the Data Center Power of the Future (e.g., liquid cooling integration, vertical power delivery).
  • Innovation Pipeline: Transition "blue sky" concepts into executable product requirements.

Strategic Partnerships & Component Innovation

  • Cultivate and manage high-level relationships with external component vendors (semiconductors, magnetics, capacitors).
  •  Move beyond off-the-shelf components by driving custom solution initiatives. Work with silicon partners to define specifications for proprietary ASICs or Wide Bandgap (GaN/SiC) devices that grant us unique Intellectual Property (IP) rights and differentiation.
  •  Assess the technical capability of suppliers to scale advanced technologies to volume production.

Academic Collaboration & Research Funding

  •  Establish and lead a U.S. University Collaboration Program. Identify top research institutions with strong power electronics departments.
  • Direct funding toward advanced technology efforts that align with our long-term goals. Act as the primary interface between corporate R&D and academic research to fuel our Advanced Engineering deployment.
  • Utilize university partnerships to identify and recruit top-tier engineering talent and PhD graduates.

The experience we are looking to add to our team:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field; PhD is highly preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in power electronics, with at least 7+ years in a senior technical leadership role (VP, Fellow, or CTO level).
  • Deep knowledge of AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion topologies.
  • Expertise in Server/Data Center power architectures (CRPS, OCP/ORV3, High Voltage DC).
  • Proven track record of creating multi-year technology roadmaps that resulted in successful commercial products.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating technical requirements and IP agreements.
  • Ability to visualize the state of the industry 5 years out and work backward to create a plan today.
  • Ability to gain consensus across engineering teams, executive leadership, and external partners without direct line authority.
  • Exceptional ability to explain complex technical power concepts to non-technical stakeholders and investors.

What you'll receive for the great work you provide:

  • Full range of medical, dental, and vision plans
  • Life Insurance
  • Short-term and Long-term Disability
  • Matching 401(k) Contributions
  • Vacation and Paid Sick Time
