Title: Chief of Staff
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
The Chief of Staff is the CEO’s strategic right hand and operating partner, orchestrating the Office of the CEO and driving execution across Duck Creek’s AI-first transformation. This role establishes the operating cadence for the leadership team (weekly/quarterly business reviews, board/PE updates, OKRs), turns strategy into clear initiatives with accountable owners and timelines, and removes roadblocks to accelerate growth and operational discipline. The Chief of Staff partners closely with product, go-to-market, finance, and people leaders to prioritize the enterprise roadmap, steward cross-functional programs (including M&A integration and portfolio value-creation workstreams), and ensure crisp executive communications for employees, customers, investors, and board/PE partners. Success looks like tighter alignment to the CEO’s agenda, faster decision cycles, measurable outcomes on the company’s most critical bets, and a high-trust “multiplier” effect on the CEO’s time and impact.
- Partner with the CEO and executive leadership to translate corporate strategy into a dynamic Operating Model, defining key programs, milestones, and deliverables across the organization.
- Oversee the enterprise initiatives portfolio: lead the intake process, set prioritization criteria tied to strategic value, align resource capacity to the highest-impact bets, and manage execution through to completion.
- Act as leader of the Office of the CEO: coach, develop, and manage the team supporting cross-functional execution (e.g., strategic projects, M&A integrations, transformation programs), setting the standard for rigor, responsiveness, and results-orientation.
- Define success criteria and KPIs for major programs cross-enterprise, ensure clarity of objectives, and drive accountability for outcomes.
- Establish and govern the decision-making structures for strategic initiatives (steering committees, executive reviews, escalation paths), ensuring alignment with Duck Creek’s operational, financial, and reporting requirements.
- Monitor program performance and executive dashboards: identify risks, dependencies, resource bottlenecks and push remediation, ensuring senior leadership has timely visibility into critical issues and opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with leaders of Technology, Product, Go-to-Market, Customer Operations, Finance, and People functions to ensure that initiative deliverables meet business needs and that dependencies across functions are proactively managed.
- Lead the adoption of standardized tools, templates, and systems (planning, tracking, reporting) within the Office of the CEO and broader organization to drive efficiency, transparency and continuous improvement.
- Own the budget and resource plan for the Office of the CEO’s strategic execution functions, balancing cost control with investment in high-leverage programs.
- Conduct structured post-program reviews: assess outcomes against objectives, capture lessons learned, and iterate the operating model to embed continuous improvement.
- Serve as the executive escalation point for mission-critical initiatives: intervene and drive alignment, resolve cross-functional conflicts, remove blockers, and mitigate delivery risks.
- Champion a culture of clarity, accountability, and collaboration across the enterprise: ensure that program teams know their roles, deliverables and timelines, and that communication flows effectively between the CEO’s Office, business units and the PE/Board stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver high-impact executive narratives and strategic messaging—translating complex business priorities into visually polished, on-brand presentations and briefing materials for customer meetings, investor sessions, and large-scale conferences.
