Chemical Software Manufacturing Engineer:

The Chemical Software Manufacturing Engineer supports both chemical manufacturing and software systems used in production. This role integrates new processes, improves manufacturing performance, resolves technical issues, and drives digitalization initiatives within the plant.

What you will do:

  • Process & Production Support

  • Integrate new chemical and software manufacturing processes while improving yield and efficiency.

  • Diagnose and solve production and equipment issues.

  • Ensure production readiness and participate in on-call support.

  • Maintain and update manufacturing documentation (e.g., Standard Work Instructions, routings, PFMEAs).

  • Digitalization & Systems

  • Support digital transformation initiatives (Industry 4.0).

  • Deploy and maintain the Digital Generator Manufacturing System (DGMS).

  • Work with SAP, DIALims, and other MES/ERP tools.

  • Design and program basic user interfaces (GUIs).

  • Contribute to BI reporting (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

  • Engineering & Material Development

  • Conduct lab- and pilot-scale studies for new products and processes.

  • Develop and test materials (metallic, non-metallic, and composites).

  • Analyze material performance, failures, and durability.

  • Define material specifications and support subcontractor process reviews.

  • Continuous Improvement

  • Use Lean tools (Standard Work, TPM) to improve processes.

  • Support quality improvement and corrective actions (including customer return analysis).

  • Audit manufacturability and recommend design or process changes.

  • Collaboration & Training

  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and other countries (sites).

  • Prepare technical requirements and process concepts.

  • Train employees on new tools, systems, and processes.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree 5 years relevant experience, OR 9+ years experience without a degree.

  • Background in chemical manufacturing plus IT/software integration.

  • Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Mechanical Engineering (with IT focus), Chemical Engineering or related field.

  • Technical Skills

  • Experience with SAP, DIALims, and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).

  • Knowledge of chemical processes and basic mechanical engineering.

  • Programming skills: VBA, Java; basic SQL understanding.

  • Familiarity with process documentation and visualization.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office / O365 and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI).

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
