Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
May be exposed to blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary. Availability and transportation to serve on-call rotation as needed. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and bend throughout the workday. Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Self-awareness that includes knowledge of one’s feelings, attitudes, values, assumptions, strengths and weaknesses, and how these affect one’s spiritual care. Ability to work amidst crisis situations in calm non-anxious manner. Ability to maintain appropriate emotional, physical and spiritual boundaries. Ability to communicate and document efficiently using electronic media. Ability to care spiritually for persons of other or no faith without sharing one’s personal convictions.
Experience Required:
Typically requires 1 year of experience in ministry. Minimum of two units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) which includes one unit granted by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE). Second unit may be granted by Healthcare Chaplains Ministry Association (HCMA). Must obtain units within two years of hire.
Education Required:
Master's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Religious Studies, or Master's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Theology, or Master's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Divinity or related field.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
None Required.
