CCO In Training

Remote, Oregon Full time

Looking for Licensed Clinicians for a High-Stakes, High-Reward Leadership Opportunity.

Position: Pennant Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) In-Training Program – with placement as a DCS/DPCS upon completion.

The Executive Reward: Why Choose the Hard Path?

At Pennant, we operate on a model of true ownership as one of our core values of CAPLICO (Customer Second, Accountability, Passion for Leaning, Love One Another, Intelligent Risk Taking, Celebration and Ownership). Your risk and effort directly translate into life-changing financial and professional opportunities:

  • Financial Opportunity: Direct opportunity for incentive bonuses (similar to profit sharing) based on your agency’s EBIT performance.

  • Equity & Accolades: Opportunity for Pennant Group equity disbursements, plus recognition through prestigious company awards, including the Flag Award and BHAG trips to world-class destinations like Hawaii.

If you are prepared to put your clinical expertise and character on trial for the chance to lead and truly own the outcome, we want to hear from you!

Your destination is clear, but the journey will be hazardous. Are you ready to lead?

The Challenge: Two Years of Leadership in Twelve Weeks.

This is not a traditional job training leadership program. This is an accelerated program designed to forge the next generation of clinical executives. We seek Registered Nurses, Speech-Language Pathologists, Physical Therapists, or Occupational Therapists with at least one year of experience and the clinical command and operational courage required for immediate ownership.

If you are looking for a standard management role or guaranteed success, do not apply. If you thrive under the pressure of freedom-within-a-framework, high-stakes clinical and compliance ownership, read on.

The Expectation: Immediate Clinical & Compliance Ownership

The CCO program role is defined by radical ownership. As a DCS/DPCS alongside your Executive Director partner, you will co-own a home health or hospice agency, with full accountability for all clinical results, quality metrics, and regulatory compliance.

  • The Risk (Challenge): Upon completion of the CCO training program you may confront some of the toughest operational challenges, potentially being placed in a struggling or low-performing agency where you are expected to identify root cause(s), develop solution(s), and lead the fix(es). Some potential challenges may include: underperforming quality metrics, need for census growth, understaffed agency, poor clinician productivity, and complex payor denials (recoupment) management.

  • The Reward (Ownership): You gain the opportunity to lead and grow a locally lead, locally owned clinical operation without the corporate red tape. Your results are your legacy.

The Journey: Guaranteed Support Along the Challenging Journey

This is a paid, 12-week Executive Immersion program demanding exceptional commitment and some mandatory travel during the program.

Direct Accountability: You are paired not with just a preceptor or a mentor, but with proven operators who act as your direct accountability partners. Their role is to challenge your thinking, confront your data, and coach you to excellence, not to spare you the difficulty.

On-Site Executive Immersion: Expect placements during the 12-week program lasting at least two weeks at a time in partnering agencies. This may require necessary travel and may result in extended work hours. You will receive hands-on training across all four cornerstones of operational success: Clinical/Compliance, Finance, Business Development, and Culture.

The Opportunity: Upon successful completion of the CCO-in-Training program, you are expected to be placed as a Director of Clinical Services (DCS) or Director of Patient Care Services (DPCS) as an accountability partner with an Executive Director of a local agency with a clear and direct path to becoming a Pennant Chief Clinical Officer (CCO).

The employer for this position is stated in the job posting.  The Pennant Group, Inc. is a holding company of independent operating subsidiaries that provide healthcare services through home health and hospice agencies and senior living communities located throughout the US.  Each of these businesses is operated by a separate, independent operating subsidiary that has its own management, employees and assets.  More information about The Pennant Group, Inc. is available at http://www.pennantgroup.com.
