Role Summary and Purpose
- The role is for an actuarial analyst to join the capital modelling function of Arch Insurance International.
- The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a mid-sized team and gain in-depth experience of all elements of the capital modelling function.
- The successful candidate to learn and develop in a dynamic team with an opportunity to drive model improvements and process efficiencies.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Supporting the parameterisation of the model, including participating in meetings with subject experts.
- Assisting with the build, maintenance and running of the capital model.
- Producing, interpreting and developing model outputs for various audiences and uses, including reinsurance purchase, business planning and capital allocation.
- Assisting with the completion and submission of regulatory returns to Lloyd’s and the PRA.
- Contribution to the validation of the model through carrying out and interpreting the results of various validation tools.
- Assisting with the documentation of the model for internal and external purposes.
- Ensuring the model change process is embedded and a proper audit trail is kept.
- Identifying and improving efficiencies in existing processes and developing model enhancements.
- Supporting the completion of the quarterly technical provisions calculations and the corresponding regulatory reports.
- Assisting in the completion of the standard formula return.
Role Requirements & Skills
Skills / Competencies
- Knowledge of stochastic modelling techniques and insurance to maintain, run and develop the capital model.
- Good Excel skills
- Programming skills desirable (ideally Python)
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure are a must
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
Qualifications
- BSc in Mathematics or related field
- Good progress through the Actuarial exams
Experience
- At least 1-3 years of capital modelling and General Insurance experience, Lloyd’s preferred.
- Good working experience of capital modelling software experience. Tyche experience is desirable but not necessary.
