Job Summary
You will be working as part of the KBR C-17 team conducting research and generating documents, reports, and other products necessary to meet C-17 Globemaster III program goals and objectives. You will perform engineering investigation and research on Technical Order (TO) waiver requests, providing observations and conclusions to support Governmental disposition decisions. You will identify and determine any potential impacts on safety, performance, reliability and/or supportability along with other potentially impacted factors. You will also research and verify the accuracy of C-17 modification engineering and drawing packages, focusing on identifying discrepancies such as missing or incorrect data, component and end-item manufacturability, data continuity between engineering documents, and other discrepancies potentially impacting supportability, sustainability, safety, interchangeability and other weapon system parameters. For each modification package, you will develop observations and findings, and generate a professional report summarizing your findings. You will independently collaborate with C-17 engineering and functional teams to support task and program objectives. You will apply your engineering expertise to support efficient and effective programmatic decisions, making key contributions to enhance the C-17’s ability to rapidly project and sustain an effective combat force close to potential battle areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Research TO waiver requests to identify engineering requirements impacted by the potential waiver
Investigate impacts on safety, performance, reliability, and supportability incurred by potential waiver of engineering requirements
Research engineering modification packages and determine potential disconnects between elements of documentation to include engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements
Investigate data linkages with other data systems as appropriate to ensure manufacturability supportability, suitability, safety, interchangeability, and other system parameters
Identify discrepancies, errors, missing data, and any other required corrective actions or concerns
Document observations, findings, and conclusions in professionally written reports
Work Environment:
Location: Remote
Travel Requirements: Some local travel may be required in and around Robins Air Force Base
Working Hours: 8 hours scheduled per day, with core hours 0900-1530. Schedule flex allowable with supervisor’s permission.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
7+ years of experience directly related to the job requirements
Demonstrated familiarity with DoD Engineering drawing requirements
Demonstrated familiarity with the Air Force Technical Order system
Demonstrated familiarity with Air Force engineering data systems
Demonstrated familiarity with Air Force maintenance practices and procedures
Active Secret Clearance required
Desired Qualifications:
4+ years of experience in an Air Force Systems Program Office (SPO)
2+ years of experience in an Air Force Logistics Complex or other Air Force maintenance organization
Experience supporting aircraft and/or aircraft systems maintenance
Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Certification in Engineering and Technical Management at Foundational, Systems Planning, Research, Development, and Engineering at Level I, or higher certification levels
Basic Compensation:
$111,700- $153,600
The salary range posted is based on the national average. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
