The Buyer Raw Materials, North America, will support the execution of raw material sourcing, procurement, and supplier management. Responsibilities will focus on the sourcing, costing & pricing of ingredient raw materials, supporting quality, service, continuous improvement, and value performance across the supply chain in the direct support of CH Guenther & Son, Inc. and her operating Divisions. The Buyer, Raw Materials, will focus on the following categories: vegetables, spices, flavors, food chemicals, and other products as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, generate, communicate, and execute clear sourcing strategies to Management
- Manage inbound logistics and resolve problems with selected raw materials as needed
- Manage the contracting and raw material costing in an SAP environment
- Manage contract balances relative to organizational expectations
- Create the annual budget for area of responsibility
- Resolve PPV and costing, and invoicing issues as they arise
- Facilitate key supply relationships
- Support sales, marketing, and CHG finance needs relative to responsibilities
Financial Risk Management: 25%
- Responsible for the Corporate financial exposure of raw materials relative to future cash flows
- Create a market-based budget
- Create and execute strategic sourcing projects
- Create and execute a standard costing process
- Maintain awareness of market conditions; create market projections, and gain approval/buy-in for the execution of various physical contracts to mitigate adverse market price volatility
Physical Risk Management: 35%
- Responsible for managing/implementing various sales initiatives as they relate to Procurement
- Support R&D & customer-directed sourcing efforts
- Represent Procurement on product launch and reformulation teams
- Accountable for servicing both direct and indirect production facilities through the centralized procurement raw materials
- Create physical supply strategy
- Ensure the adherence to service commitments, specification commitments, and Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Problem solving, mediation, resolution
Productivity: 30%
- Participate on multidisciplinary teams to accomplish Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Identify strategic relationships and build the business case for long-term relationships
- Facilitate business meetings that align supplier and CHG objectives
- Identify and execute cost savings projects
Reporting: 10%
- Manage PPV and budget variance
- Report raw material positions relative to expectations
- Create and execute a standard contract reconciliation process
- Manage SAP system information
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required: Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Supply Chain, Business, or related discipline preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in experience in procurement, supply chain, operations, logistics, grain origination, ingredient purchasing required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Understanding of food ingredients, application, formulation and regulatory processes
- Knowledge of production agriculture and farm profitability factors
- Understanding of truck/rail logistics management
- Effective interpersonal and strong written/verbal communication skills required
- A proven track record of quickly identifying and resolving problem areas
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills required
- Flexibility and adaptive to a rapidly changing environment
- Strong Excel-based PC analytic skills required
- SAP experience preferred
- Travel- ~15% or as required
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Work involves light exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, humidity, darkness, and/or noise.
- Moderate physical effort required such as standing, sitting, and walking in and around the office; the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; reaching, climbing, and kneeling as needed; utilizing fine dexterity, the ability to see, hear, and communicate with associates as well as others by utilizing professional etiquette.

$61,352.00 - $106,444.00
Actual compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as geographic location.
