The role

As a Business Process Expert at Damen Naval, you will lead initiatives to design, optimize, and implement business processes. Your expertise will directly drive naval shipbuilding programs, ensuring organizational efficiency and effectiveness. This role is pivotal in enhancing productivity, reducing waste, ensuring compliance with defense standards, and improving cross-functional collaboration.

We seek strong project management expertise, experience with business process improvement methodologies (such as Six Sigma, PRINCE2, or equivalents), and a deep understanding of complex manufacturing or defense industry environments

Key accountabilities
In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead cross-functional projects to analyze existing workflows, identify inefficiencies and risks, and design, implement, and document optimized business processes across all shipbuilding programs.

  • Facilitate workshops and collaborate closely with key stakeholders across all departments to gather requirements, ensure alignment with organizational goals and defense standards, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Monitor, measure, and report on the impact of process improvements against key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cost, quality, delivery time, and compliance.

  • Drive and support digital transformation initiatives, including the seamless integration of PLM, ERP, MES, and other operational systems into optimized workflows.

Skills & experience
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of the shipbuilding industry and/or complex (project) manufacturing industry.
  • Project management experience with knowledge of business process mapping, analysis, and re-engineering techniques. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or BPM (Business Process Management) methodologies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams in a complex, highly regulated environment.
  • Experience with Planning, PLM, MES and ERP concepts in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good command of the Dutch and English language both written and verbal.
  • Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with (also) a non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible given the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
