Business Development Manager

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Business Development Manager for our Commercial Vehicles to join our team to based in Perth but working nationwide.

About the role:

You, as Business Development Manager, will identify and pursue strategic growth opportunities for Avis Budget Group by expanding our corporate customer base, increasing revenue, and transitioning new strategic partnerships into the business.

You will play a crucial role in promoting brand awareness and building trust with new opportunities. Your approach will adopt a consultant lens to manage and maximise passenger and commercial vehicle rental opportunities and drive subsequent revenue and profit growth across the Avis Budget corporate business channel. Delivering a new portfolio of customers, a specific portfolio or book of business is not assigned for this role.

Having a detailed understanding of the functionality and purpose of the Avis Budget product range and value proposition, you will predominately optimise new business opportunities across mid to large size enterprise needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive B2B business development strategy to prioritise pipeline growth and achieve revenue targets across corporate, commercial and government channels that supports the company’s commercial growth objectives.

  • Identify, prospect, and develop new vehicle rental (contracted and project) customer and sector opportunities within local and Australian market to increase revenue and meet sales targets.

  • Negotiate and manage new agreements and contracts to ensure mutually beneficial terms.

  • Build key relationships and support seamless implementation of new partners into the business.

  • Proactively conduct market analysis to identify trends, risks, customer needs and competitor activities in an evolving economy with both short and mid to long term outlook. Make tactical recommendations to your Line Manager as appropriate.

  • Work closely with local operations state managers, commercial vehicle managers and franchise partners to identify, engage and develop sales pipeline and growth strategy.

  • Provide subject matter guidance, training, and support to motivate team members across direct and wider sales channel to help pursue growth targets.

  • Be totally familiar with the rate structure and participate on any decisions on rate changes as well as implementation with customers.

  • Deal with any customer complaints or issues in a timely and professional manner via our Sales Support unit or support functions such as branch managers, reservations, and company trainers to ensure that customer service levels meet or exceed company standards for this sector.

  • Report monthly against targets set, commenting on variances, problems, opportunities, competitor activity, market intelligence and items of industry interest.

  • Contribute to the achievement of business development goals and portfolio revenue targets.

  • Collaboration with marketing and sales teams in the design of campaigns to attract new customers.

  • To support and positively influence team and ABG company culture.

  • To proactively work to develop Trans-Tasman AU/NZ accounts via a regional approach

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this position you will need a proven track record of successful revenue growth and profit achievement in a business development management role with knowledge and application of the strategic dimension of sales and managing key accounts. Your ability to identify opportunities for long-term and strategic growth will also be essential.

You will possess strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to excel in your engagement. Analysis of data and market insights will support data driven decision making, essential to building your strategic portfolio of sustainable business. Proficiency in use of CRM (Salesforce) software and other tools will enable sales processes and revenue analysis.

Working autonomously, you will be a go-getter and the type of person who is excited by individual and team success, agile change, and improvement. Your strong commercial acumen, attention to details and lateral problem-solving approach will see you thrive in this role.
