King Edward VII Hospital, a leading private healthcare provider in London, is seeking an ambitious and strategic Business Development Director to join our Executive Team. This is a unique opportunity to drive commercial growth, lead innovation, and make a lasting impact on patient care and hospital success.
About the Role
As Business Development Director, you will:
- Lead and shape the hospital’s commercial strategy, aligning local objectives with the broader Bupa Health Services and Diagnostics & Secondary Care London strategy.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and income streams to drive sustainable growth.
- Build and strengthen relationships with key consultants, GPs, referrers, and stakeholders through structured networking and engagement programmes.
- Oversee market analysis and competitor benchmarking to inform commercial decisions and maintain a competitive edge.
- Develop and launch innovative clinical pathways and services, driving transformation and enhancing patient experience.
- Champion digital transformation and the adoption of AI to improve client and patient experience.
- Lead consultant and referrer engagement, recruitment, and satisfaction initiatives, ensuring alignment with hospital values and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee marketing and external communications, promoting the hospital’s brand and services within the private healthcare sector.
- Foster a culture of commercial excellence, continuous improvement, and high performance across the commercial team.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven track record of driving business development and commercial growth in healthcare or a similar environment.
- Strong leadership experience, ideally within private healthcare or related sectors.
- Experience of leading teams and functions of significant size and scale.
- Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and influencing skills, especially with consultants and external partners.
- Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and judgement.
- Experience in consultant engagement or relationship management is essential.
- Ability to develop and implement commercially viable strategies for sustainable growth.
- Strong analytical skills, able to interpret market and financial data to inform decisions.
- Adaptable and resilient, with a passion for innovation and digital transformation.
- Outstanding communication skills and a collaborative, can-do attitude.

- Willingness to work flexibly, including mornings and evenings as required.
