Pay Range

$20.40 - $30.60

Major Responsibilities:
  • Performs clerical duties in the technical work areas of the department.
    • 1)Answers telephone in a timely manner, utilizing appropriate telephone etiquette. Greets and acknowledges patient and family members in a professional and welcoming manner. Coordinate incoming and outgoing calls including recording and reporting of pages and messages. Assists with “Call” report findings to physician/office. Participate in calling patients to confirm appointment times and or call-backs.
    • 2)Delivers completed requisitions/paperwork to technologist area in a timely manner. Assure that paperwork is filed and/or distributed according to policies and procedures in a timely manner. Accurately Complete 100% of paperwork in timely manner.
    • 3)Participate in trouble-shooting activites and implement corrective action plans as directed by manager. Participate in providing recommendations to manager to improve scheduling/registration process.
    • 9)Maintain cleanliness and organization of immediate work area
    • 4)Assure that computer system paperwork is of high quality so that it can be read without problems. Assure that required reports are completed in a timely manner and distributed to identified person(s).
    • 5)Data entry activities as required.
    • 6)Participate in inventory ordering and distribution of department supplies. Match goods received with delivery orders. Maintain supply of forms, ie. History worksheets.
    • 7)Works in a timely manner that is in compliance with Hospital Infection Control Standards, OSHA and other regulatory agencies. Adheres to department procedures regarding patient and associate safety.
    • 8)Maintain Computer skill level in accordance with expected turnaround times and expected work outputs as established via policies and procedures. Perform basic trouble-shooting procedures. Accurately identify and complete all fields that require data entry.
    • 10)Ensure timely and accurate processing of work and repair orders for Department.
  • Perform patient interviews to obtain and document patient demographic and medical coverage information.
    • 6)Creates and mails out Lay Summaries to each patient in the time specified by the FDA requirements. Tracks ACR of patients by phone and registered mail to schedule additional testing per MQSA requirements.
    • 7)Registers outpatients into Hospital’s Allegra System.
    • 3)Verify necessary insurance information is obtained; making a copy of patient ID and insurance card. Scans information into the computer
    • 4)Compare and verify provided patient information with system patient information.
    • 5)Assures patient information is accurate via review of patient identification materials, patient ID, insurance card/insurance policy materials.
    • 1)Accutetly scans information into computer
    • 2)Enters or secures patient information in RIS and Allegra to include assistance with patient billing. Enters and processes Radiology orders and schedules patients as required.
  • Support the technologists, nursing staff and physicians in the activities related to the delivery of patient care.
    • 1)Responds and assists the technical staff when needed. Assists technologists with changing of patient clothes and patient washroom assistance.
    • 2)Promotes patient safety by reporting issues through established channels and participating as requested in safety initiatives.
    • 3)Demonstrates the ability to respond to emergency situations such as Code Blue, Code Red, etc.
    • 4)Responds to the needs of patients and visitors waiting for procedures.
    • 5)Stocks dressing rooms and empty dirty linen
  • Contribute to a harmonious work environment and Service Excellence Standards.
    • 1)Foster positive communication between all members of Mammography.
    • 2)Demonstrate appropriate telephone etiquette.
    • 3)Acknowledge and respond to all internal and external customers.
    • 4)Develop skills, knowledge and professionalism by attending inservices, Department/Hospital committees and Continuing Education development programs.
    • 5)Other duties as assigned.
    • 6)Attend and participate in Department staff meetings.
    • 7)Demonstrate “Service Excellence” standards at all times.


Education/Experience Required:
  • High School diploma or equivalent 2 - 3 years of hospital registration, billing or collection experience Knowledge of third party payors Knowledge of the Allegra system preferred Strong medical terminology background preferred, certification in medical terminology within one year of employment Customer service experience preferred


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Knowledge of a PC computer keyboard with data entry experience Previous Allegra experience is beneficial Excellent communication and customer service skills Strong interpersonal skills Ability to function in a stressful, fast-paced environment with a high level of empathy, tact and poise Must type 20-30 words per minute, preferred

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to read, enter and retrieve information from the computer terminal. Ability to work weekends, holidays, and different shifts in order to accommodate staffing needs, may be required. The candidate must be able to perform physical tasks such as hearing the client, viewing the computer screen, verbalizing instructions and possessing manual dexterity for data entry; ability to lift 20 lbs of computer paper, ability to work on a CRT terminal screen. The candidate must be highly customer service oriented. High degree of phone contact/personal one on one contact with patients, patient families, other hospital departments and physician offices.
  • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
