PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Business Analyst serves as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure clear understanding of business needs, system capabilities, and desired outcomes. This role is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and documenting requirements; supporting policy creation and updates; conducting research to inform decisions; and mapping out workflows and processes. The Business Analyst provides exceptional customer service, maintains strong follow-up and follow-through on all tasks, and ensures accurate, timely communication throughout the project lifecycle. They support testing, documentation, and solution validation while helping teams improve processes and deliver high-quality results.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Conduct requirements-gathering sessions with stakeholders and translate needs into clear documentation (BRDs, user stories, workflows, acceptance criteria).
- Support the creation, revision, and maintenance of corporate and IT policies, procedures, and governance documents.
- Perform research on industry best practices, vendor capabilities, regulatory expectations, and system capabilities.
- Document current-state and future-state processes and assist with gap analyses.
- Provide customer-focused communication and ensure timely follow-up on all assigned actions.
- Track outstanding items, coordinate responses, and ensure tasks are completed with consistency and accuracy.
- Assist with UAT planning and execution, test documentation, and validation of enhancements.
- Create polished presentations and reports using Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to work effectively with multiple departments and adapt communication style based on audience (technical vs. non-technical).
- Exposure to change management principles, especially communicating impacts and documenting decisions.
- Problem-solving and critical inquiry skills, such as asking clarifying questions, digging into root causes, and challenging assumptions respectfully.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to break down complex problems, identify patterns, and propose practical solutions.
- Experience with data analysis or reporting, including comfort with reading datasets, identifying trends, and supporting business intelligence needs (Power BI familiarity is a plus but not required).
- Basic understanding of SQL concepts (select queries, joins) or a willingness to learn to support data validation and reporting needs.
- Process improvement mindset with exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement principles.
- Ability to create clear visualizations, such as process maps, diagrams, or simple mockups that help communicate ideas.
- Familiarity with requirements management techniques such as user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases, and traceability.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, especially in environments with multiple projects or competing deadlines.
- Familiarity with cloud-based collaboration tools such as SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, or other document management environments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 2–4 years of experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, or systems/process improvement.
- Secret Clearance or ability to obtain.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with Visio or other workflow-mapping tools.
- Strong research skills with the ability to independently gather information, analyze findings, and summarize recommendations.
- Experience supporting policy development, documentation updates, and alignment to standards or procedures.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to follow through on tasks, maintain momentum, and resolve outstanding issues to completion.
- Familiarity with Agile, hybrid PMO environments, or standard systems development lifecycles.
