Job Summary: Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

Major Duties:

  • Duties include budget formulation and execution, financial management, management of procurement and property functions and oversight of the credit card program. Responsible for overseeing the direction and coordination of accounting operations which include cash processing and voucher examination. Develops, implements, and analyzes tools of evaluation for the financial management program. Oversees the monthly submission of cash reports and proof-checks and the accuracy of all financial obligations to ensure compliance with established regulations. Oversees the monitoring of cost center fund balances for the institution and keeps managers informed of the status of the budget. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this required for this position and is performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Qualifications: To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. NOTE Graduate education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience serving as a Disbursing/Certifying Officer. Experience reviewing monthly submission of cash reports and proof checks and the accuracy of all financial obligations to ensure compliance with established regulations. Experience with inventory procedures, records retention and evaluation and classification procedures for both real and personal property. Experience working with Financial Management Information Systems (FMIS) the on-line computerized budgeting system, the SENTRY Real Property Management System (SRPMS), and the SENTRY Property Management System (SPMS). OR Combination of Education and Experience: Have a combination of education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the qualifications to perform the major duties of this position as described above. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience.
