The Budget Specialist III is responsible for overseeing and administering the budget and fiscal operations of the School of Public and Allied Health, working under the guidance of the Dean.
The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.
Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain all budget/fiscal affairs for the School of Public and Allied Health. Responsible for monitoring all activity related to state, local, and grant accounts to ensure that any corrective actions that need to be taken are processed in a timely and accurate manner. Provides updates to the Dean regarding account balances and plans for upcoming expenditures by submitting DBRs or DCRs as needed, ensuring that funds are allocated to the correct pools. Responsible for monthly account reviews.
Creates faculty contracts for the academic year and the summer, and prepares other documentation related to compensation actions for faculty and staff. Responsible for entering business processes into Workday for compensation changes, terminations, costing allocations, etc. Assists with budgeting for upcoming events and takes necessary actions to move funds to prevent delays in processing travel and Procard expenses, and payments to vendors. Assists with procurement and contracts as required.
Certifies the payroll, and if necessary, takes necessary actions to prevent overpayments and non-payments. Submits required documentation to payroll services when corrections must be made.
Performs other duties assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications.
Efficient in using Microsoft applications
Must have excellent organizational and time management skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Detail-oriented and able to work collaboratively with others.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
Willing to work extended hours if needed
Special Requirements:
Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree may be considered. One year of the related experience is the equivalent of one college year. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have four years of related experience to meet the equivalency in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus the minimum required years of experience. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have a total of nine years of experience.
