Job Summary: This position is part of the Office of Environmental Management - Headquarters, Department of Energy. As a Budget Analyst, you will be analyzing a variety of highly complex Department of Energy budgetary operations and functions.

Major Duties:

  • As a Budget Analyst, you will: Provide budget leadership and analysis for multi-million dollar program initiatives. Advise senior leadership on federal budget processes, DOE guidance, and related legislation. Manage budget forecasts, guiding teams to improve accuracy and analyze the long-term impact of financial decisions. Oversee budget execution for DOE programs, addressing funding issues and reporting financial performance to leadership. Direct strategic financial forecasting and the development of performance measurement systems for long-term fiscal operations to present to senior officials. Manage the annual budget process, implementation, and program spending to ensure efficient resource allocation and resolve complex financial issues.

Qualifications: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting 2 of the TOTAL 3 of the following: Providing support to managers and program staff in the budget formulation process by researching and compiling data to assist in the development of budget estimates and justifications. Reviewing program management budget submissions for accuracy and compliance. Managing the allocation of funds to ensure they are disbursed and executed correctly and on schedule. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
