Role Summary and Purpose

We are looking for a Broker Relationship Development Manager (BRDM) to join our team in Bristol, working closely with the Branch Manager for day-to-day activities.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is either:

  • Currently in a Broker Relationship Development Manager role, or

  • In a sales, junior sales, or Development Underwriter role and ready to take the next step in their career.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving broker development in the Bristol market, helping us achieve our ambitious growth targets for 2026.

Working closely with underwriting teams, you will build and maintain strong broker relationships that contribute meaningfully to business performance in both retention and new business. A strong understanding of broker segmentation, Arch propositions, and the ability to interpret and report against key performance indicators is essential.

We’re looking for someone with analytical and problem-solving skills, market awareness, and the ability to prioritise effectively. Strong communication skills are vital for engaging with internal stakeholders, strategic partners, and the regional broker community.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Technical Skills and Expertise

  • Regularly visiting brokers in the region to identify, nurture, and develop new business opportunities and support retention.

  • Collaborating to engage national broker networks and understand their regional strategies.

  • Working with UKR Marketing and Product Managers to ensure strong Arch visibility in the region.

  • Supporting underwriting teams to resolve broker issues and achieve regional profit and retention goals.

  • Leading performance-driven conversations with brokers to positively influence outcomes and raise awareness of Arch propositions.

  • Maintaining deep knowledge of Arch products, coverage levels, and competitive differentiators.

  • Monitoring Arch performance in the region and implementing actions to address issues.

  • Gathering and reporting market intelligence and broker feedback to identify emerging opportunities.

  • Generating new business through broker events and relationship-building activities.

  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory and risk management responsibilities.

  • Championing customer satisfaction initiatives to meet production and service goals.

  • Contributing to the development of sales collateral and business presentations.

  • Documenting broker meetings in line with Arch engagement processes.

  • Reporting changes in the broker landscape to maintain an accurate regional view.

  • Promoting a collaborative team environment and acting as a visible role model.

  • Demonstrating strong communication skills across listening, negotiating, presenting, and reporting.

  • Showing high self-motivation and adaptability in a dynamic working environment.

  • Providing leadership and contributing to regional business discussions.

  • Interpreting complex data and communicating insights effectively.

  • Feeding market intelligence into other Arch functions.

  • Managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.

Role Requirements & Skills

Skills / Competencies

  • Strong analytical skills to understand business dynamics and anticipate trends.

  • Proven ability to build, manage, and influence broker relationships.

  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Experience with commercial insurance metrics and performance analysis.

  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.

  • Strategic thinking and contribution to business planning.

Qualifications

  • Underwriting authority is highly regarded but not essential.

  • Full UK driver’s licence.

  • Minimum A-level standard preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience developing business relationships in a commercial insurance environment.
