Job Description: Brand Product Director
The brand product director is accountable to develop and implement a strategic product roadmap and annual product plan for the brand. This role requires deep product and portfolio management expertise. The brand product director works closely with cross-functional teams such as design, manufacturing, sales, and marketing to document, align and lead the successful execution of annual and long-term product strategies for the brand.
Key responsibilities include:
Annual Product Plan
Owns the end-to-end development and execution of the Annual Product Plan, ensuring alignment with cross-functional stakeholders. This responsibility includes:
Strategic Planning & Prioritization: Leads the creation of an annual product plan within the context of 3-5 year roadmap. Plans should help cross functional teams prioritize initiatives based on market opportunity, customer needs, and business impact.
New Product introductions [NPI]: Accountable to initiate, organize and deliver all requirements for each NPI Stage Gate. This requires working closely with the launch manager and all cross-functional teams to ensure information is delivered on time and meeting requirements to ensure product launch.
Financial Plan: Accountable to propose, document and align the teams to annual volume targets, sample plans, and promotional budgets necessary to achieve the product plan.
Initiative Management: Oversees the execution of key product initiatives, ensuring delivery against plan and adjusting as needed based on performance and market dynamics.
Performance Reporting: Provides regular updates to leadership on progress against the plan, including financial performance, milestone achievements, and risk mitigation strategies.
Strategic Leadership
Lead the development and execution of product strategy to drive long term product direction for the brand. This responsibility includes:
Market Research: Gather and analyze customer feedback to improve products and customer satisfaction. Collaborate with insights team on market analysis to understand and socialize customer needs, preferences, and trends.
Competitive Benchmarking: Establish clear competitive benchmarks that reflect the next best alternatives to the brand product portfolio.
Brand Product Roadmap: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on a strategic product roadmap across all customers and sales channels. This includes development of completing business plans to guide the evolution of product strategies with clear timelines, scenario planning, and revenue projections.
Product Line Logic: Develop rational and demonstratable line-logic across the portfolio to drive decision simplicity and ensure that features have easily observable value between styles and collections. Provide product marketing clear and prioritized features, benefits and value creation for all product innovations.
Product Attribute Management: Develop clear and documented product attributes and ensure consistency across all marketing touchpoints.
Pricing Strategy: Accountable to work with pricing to guide pricing policy for the brand, including MAP, floor, and all promotional pricing.
Custom product development: Works with stakeholders to validate that all custom product requests meet the brand and business requirements.
Subject Mater Expertise: Responsible for briefing the training teams on the brand line-logic, product launches, and value propositions for all products in the portfolio.
Lifecycle management: Work with cross-functional teams to optimize SKU efficiency goals, reduced line complexity and product phase in/out plans.
